There are still some of us around and after visiting the Tampa Super Show some of us will be sticking with our older coach's.
The new lineup leaves allot to be desired they are no comparison to older KS, MA gas coach's.
Not sure where gas lineup is going with cheapened cabinet work and storage space in them.
The lineup is as good as a Fleetwood, Winne line not like the Newmar's we have seen in the past.
The feature's and options in my 03 KS are still providing the best of service and Workhorse chassis is out standing on this latest trip.
I would be interested in hearing any other comments from other older Newmar gas owners.

We have been very happy with the quality and durability from Newmar, have not looked at new to compare.

I have replaced the 600w inverter 2 times and the transfer switch 2 times. Iota said I had to have a generator with "spikes" on it to destroy the timer in the transfer switch but had a generator repair facility check the generator and he said the generator did not damage the switch. Outside of these two problems I haven't had any trouble with my Newmar/Workhorse setup. Have 30,000 miles on it now and also no brake problems either but still am waiting for the Bosch replacement calipers anyway...

Possibly he meant things like "vinyl wrapped stiles" instead of solid wood. Our doors are real wood, but the stiles, wood used around the bunks and other flat surfaces are vinyl. I did not see much else that was different, our drawers are full extension and the cabinetry is solidly built.
As our RV ages, we are seeing some slight differences between the wood and the vinyl as the wood darkens. Also, the edge of the vinyl has begun to unglue in a couple of areas, like where the kids rib against it getting into and out of the bunks. A towel over the affected area has limited the damage and I'll re-glue it when I find the appropriate adhesive.
We would have gotten one of the optional colors (which are extra cost and supposed to be 100% wood) but we did not like either of them as they were both too dark (at least in the 2008 model year).
As far as storage space is concerned, we have plenty! We did notice that storage is floorplan dependent, but storage is not an issue in the bunk floorplan we chose.
We are happy with our Newmar, we looked at the 2009's and 2010's recently and would still recommend them .

we bought the BAY STAR just as a small RV and thought, we keep it until the DW retires, so - the last few years we're looking for better and better, but sofar we have not found one that we like...or like to afford!!! Our Bay Star looks pretty good and the Dollars were very good... It's running and running. What I read about the Quality here on some DP makes us hold on to the Bay Star for awhile. Are we going "down-hill"?
Price, Quality will be right for us one of these days....
I read and hear too many negative reports etc on the NEW MH's.
As long as we have wheels under our house, we'll be happy campers!!!

As the proud owner of a "new" Newmar gasser, I resent the inference to cheap cabinetry. I haven't seen any 2011 models but I have a 2010 and the woodwork is as nice as any coach I have seen. I personally witnessed how the cabinetry is made at Newmar and to me, there is nothing "cheap" about it. We elected to stay with the std. wood finish since we didn't care for the upgrade choice and so far, we haven't been disappointed.
Now, if only our BR slide worked right !

Cheap was the wrong word to use, solid feel when closing the doors with out rattles of paneling would be more to the point.
All KS & MA had raised panel doors that set off Newmars craftsmanship which has not changed, please note, and vinyl wrap has not been a problem.
Just at plant and had floor tiles extended to door entrance steps and their work was excellent, looks like the original install.
Options of jacks, chassis's, appliances, Sony, GE, had a better lineup than the people's choices now.
People are paying more for less quality parts and more problems with jacks, radios etc.
Choice's of options by MFG and not by people willing to pay for better quality options.
Whats wrong with bedroom slide, Dave.

Remember it now should be ok at North Trail.
We are back in FT Myers for week then to Sunnyfield,FL , with Nor' easter friends than to Newmar for refer recall and replacement of windshield rubber gaskets, pass-window taped in place. We both should be ok.

We attended the Tampa show and did not see a gasser that we would be willing to trade our 07 MACA 3991 on.

We too had entertained the thought of moving to a Kountry Star DP. after drulling over the 2007 s and 08s and we may have bought one if we had not bought a new Mountain Aire gas in 2003 . Every time we look at new motorhomes I'm thankfull of our decission back then. It has been trouble free , and I don't think I could get anything better that I could afford. I would find it very hard to replace our NEWMAR . Now if I could just figure out how to get a Mountain Master independent front suspension 4 air bag side radiator chassis under it !!!!!

We traded our Newmar Cypress for our Canyon Star. We found the fit and finish simular between the two units. Yes the DP rigs are nice but we think we got everything we were looking for in the entry level unit. We also look at other manufactures and couldn't get past the "mobile home look". One brand for simular price had strips of wood covered with vynal wallpaper ove joints..yuk
