New Order Yesterday

I just joined this forum and this is my first post. I've been looking at motorhomes for the last year. I have rented three times for a week each time. I visited Tiffen in Red Bay and recently Newmar. I have been debating with myself between an Allegro Bus 37 and a Mt Aire 40. Both have positives and negatives for me. Both are larger than I'd like but have the things I would like to have.

Went to my Newmar dealer intending on ordering the Mt. Aire last Wed. While there I learned about the new New Aire 33 and I wound up ordering one. I wanted a different exterior color and a different color tile on the floors. We spoke with the Newmar rep even though the factory was closed for the holiday and make the changes I want. I was able to delete several standard things and select the options I want.

I'll get pictures of the new colors and a more accurate delivery date next week. I guess I will have 3-4 months to collect stuff.

Has anyone done a factory pick-up vs a dealer?

This unit comes with a Cummins 360 and Allison 3000. The units I have rented and the ones I have tested were all larger and had 450, 500, or 600 motors and the 4000 trans. This unit is smaller and lighter. Anyone have experience with the 360 motor?

markminnc: First our sincere congratulations on your new New Aire order. We are in the process of determining either the Mountain Aire 4047 or on of the New Aire coaches. We be happy to hear what changes and options you had made and selected. Also, a few pictures of your new baby. Happy Travels....

Huge congrats!

You went in to order a Mountainaire and you walked out with a New Aire and you did not even know it existed??? WOW! That would be at least a 2 month decision tree for me........

from WA State!

If I were looking to downsize I'd look the NewAire over really closely, but I'm afraid the 360 engine just wouldn't work for me.

Here is a brief review from a very well respected writer in the RV industry quoted from a response on the Tiffin network.
I know this doesn't answer your question if anyone has actually driven an New Aire, but Mark has and these are his initial impressions,

The New Aire is very impressive. It had the level of amenities that a Mountain Aire had yet was less money than a Dutch Star. It's the only coach out there in a 34' length with IFS, side radiator, etc. It actually handled and rode better than many 40' pushers I've tested. Newmar really did a great job designing this coach and anyone who wants to step down from a tag axle coach to something smaller won't be giving up much of anything except for some room.

It is only available on a FL chassis but this chassis was jointly developed between FL and Newmar specifically for the New Aire and they hit the target dead on.

I would add that, were I looking for a 34' coach, this would be my choice.

+1 You can bank on Ted's reviews. If he says something you are sure it's accurate.
