New Tires

We have an '04 Dutch Star 3810. It's time for new tires. Original tires still going are 275/70/22.5 Michelin. Can I replace them with 275/80/22.5 that will run at lower tire pressure?

The 275/80 is about 2" taller than the 70 series so your speedometer will be off (slower) by about 5%. Other than that I cannot be of more help.

Hi Rmellen,
It all depends on the clearance for the steer wheels, and the spacing between the tires for the rear duals. If you check the Michelin web site it will provide the tire specs. Visit a dealer and they can advice you on the spacing for the rear dual wheels.

My tires are 275X70X22.5 load range J Michelin's. The best way to lower your psi may be to get load range J tires. My tires are at:
rear = 90 PSI carrying 20K lbs
front = 100 PSI carrying 11.5K lbs

I replaced mine with 275/80 R22.5 XZA3's, load range H. That's on a 2000 38' Dutch Star.

Everett got 275/70/22.5 load J Michelins. Didn't have to worry about cutting off edges of jacks. It has been riding fine. See you soon.
