I'm new to this forum ... have had a logon for sometime but i have not visited much and apparently have never posted (how can that be i don't know).

But anyway - i think i'll hang around the Newmar forum for awhile. DH and I saw the new Mountain Aire about a month ago and again at the FMCA convention in Charlotte. We love it and want to learn more about Newmar. It's a bit impractical for us to trade up since we own a 2006 Allegro Bus and have not even had it 1 year yet (but close).

Nothing more to say at the moment - just can't stop thinking about this MA -- they have the exact floorplan/slide we want and will even make some interior changes for us.

If hase a winning lottery ticket - I need it.

Lucy

Lucy,

Please allow me to be the first to welcome you back to iRV2.com.

I think you'll be making a deal on that new Newmar you saw....

Lucy, WELCOME to iRV2!!

You and I have spoken on that other forum....WELCOME to the Newmar Owner's Forum over here!!

I wasn't too practical recently when I traded my 6 month old 2006 Winnebago Vectra for a new Essex, but sometimes you just gotta be impractical!

I look forward to hearing more of your experiences with your rig and maybe even can send you to a GREAT East Coast Newmar dealer if you're looking....

They were at the FMCA so you'll remember them....

Thanks for the welcome guys.

We'll see how soon we will make the switch. It took us 15 months to decide on the Bus.

Some obvious concerns for us is how much we'd lose if we would trade in. I don't think we have the energy to try and sell it outright.

We have a 2007 Mountain Aire 4523 on order, to our specifications, and expect delivery in 2 weeks or so. So, we know what you mean about "can't get the MA out of your mind"!

Hi Lucy! Welcome. We also just made a switch. We traded our 2006 Newmar Dutch Star 4023 for a 2007 Newmar Mountain Aire 4528. We ordered it with all kinds of specials. we pick it up on Aug. 30. If we can be of any help or answer any questions let us know. Jill & Paul

Wow - so many folks trading up. I'm sooo envious.

We worked so hard to find our Bus -- we really wanted a 3 slide (2 in the bedroom and 1 upfront on the driver side). We do love our Bus - but the MA has the floorplan we wanted 4520 and the new styling this year is just incredible. They even had this floorplan at the FMCA convention -- i never expected to see it - ever - i figured dealers would never have one on their lots - as most folks are not interested in 3 slide coaches like this. But they had it and it is just perfect. Fate maybe.

I was thinking if we intend to trade up we should try to do it before the new engines are added - otherwise we should wait a few years so they work out the bugs. Does anyone know when those new engines will become std?

Lucy

Hi! Lucy, welcome to the Newmar Owner's Forum, where you'll get some expert advice about Newmar's. To bad you don't have a Newmar now otherwise you would probably be heading to Vermont for the International Rally which is being held in the Fall this year, well maybe next year will see you in Gillette, Wy. Welcome to IRV2 Lucy. I remember when you were looking at your 40DP. While your Bus is a nice coach, the new Mountain Aire sure does "kick it up a notch". The Spartan K2 chassis, the Cummins 450 ISM, the MADP decor and bells and whistles, are in a different level, as is the price tag. We just ordered a 42QRP Bus but I have to admit that if there was no such thing as an Allegro Bus, we'd probably be in a Mountain Aire.

As to the new engines, they won't show up until the second quarter of 2007 according to my Spartan rep. The 1/1/07 cutoff date is enforced as of date of engine manufacture. Cummins keeps a slight inventory, Spartan keeps a decenty inventory, and Tiffin or Newmar also have chassis on their own lot. By the time the engines filter through to the end user you'r looking at May, give or take a month. If a manufacturer is slow it'll take longer but if they sell out faster, you'll see them earlier. That's one reason I went with known rather than the unknown. When tier II emissions first hit, Cat had a number of issues with driveability and fuew economy. Naturally Cat got them all straightened out, (you probably know about that what with Tom being retired from Cat ) but there is liable to be that initial testing process that the consumer goes through. In that case I'd wait for a 2008 model.

Mark - thanks for the info. Coincidentally i was talking with Tom about this tonight when he got home (he still works - i was the retiree . He knows much more about this - than i realize -- guess i should ask him. He says the 2011 will be a bigger issue than the change coming next year.. Tier II is what's coming next and Tier III in 2011. The timeline is by HP..his role is with Backhoe Loaders for Cat - doesn't work directly with the Engine side but obviously it impacts them.

He also said it's illegal to stock pile engines - i suppose whatever a manf typically buys based on sales is an acceptable amount of inventory. I did not realize that either.

Don't know what we will do -- it takes time to think through the pros/cons and then there is always the "desire". But what he did say is definitely we need to trade up before the Tier III.

What fun! You timed your change perfectly. Won't be long now - huh?

Ed - i was reading about the international rally yesterday - would love to see Vermont. I bet that place will be beautiful that time of year.

Maybe someday - West coast is pretty far away though -- might have to persuade Tom to retire to make that one. Right after i persuade him to buy the MA.

Hey Lucy - we can but hope! We head home tomorrow from Thousand Trails Chesapeake. Had the 5 grandkids here for a week then Momma & I decided to recuperate for a week. HA!

I have to go to Port St Lucie on Monday for a neurosurgery consult about a repair on my 2 herniated intervertebral discs. I REALLY don't want to go, but I can't put it off any longer.

Just remember, there's a Mountain Aire out there with YOUR name on it!.

Mark, sorry you were dealing with the back pain and we couldn't get together, maybe next time.

Good luck with the doc visits...
