Hey Jerry Kelly, glad to see you "over" here!

WELCOME to iRV2!!

We can add "Newmar Owner's Forum Member" under your screen name if you like, that's the "karma" thatR Roger speaks of...

I hope you'll find some interesting things here, not only in the Newmar forum, but everywhere on iRV2.

We are for instance, planning an iRV2 get together at the upcoming Tampa Super Rally and there are plans to attend some of the Newmar Kountry Klub events as well.
You can find those topics at the top of the Newmar forum in bold.

WELCOME!!

Thank you for your pleasant greetings. Can some tell me how to add some "Karma" as well as add a photo to my signature?

I look forward to all of the tips and insight that these forums provide.

2 The primary items on my is what to do for toad brakes. I own the SMI silent partner and have developed a frienship over the past several years with some of the family at SMI. They have been great to work with but the system has been a little unreliable due to RF interference issues. I just bought a new Suburban and I am thinking of buying a brake buddy vantage since their is no install. Pleae let me know if anyone thinks I am going in the wrong direction.

I am already enjoying this group.

A welcome from me too. But in regard to an auxillary braking system, I was thinking the new Air Force One by SMI might be the berries. Have you looked into one, especially as you are an SMI customer already. I am not speaking from experience as I don't know a lot about them ( I use the Even Brake from Roadmaster).

Jerry, call SMI and speak to Pete....he'll remember talking to me as he traveled down the road with his wife, I was the one he was giving tech support over the phone to when I had my Vectra here in Virginia Beach.

I'd certainly look into the Air Force One from SMI....The only reason I have M and G is that my 2007 K2500 has hydraulic brakes and not vacuuum brakes and M and G is what was available at the time.

As far as a picture in your post, add a picture url address to your signature by adding brackets around the http address.... will do the trick.

Click on "view/edit profile" then add the above to where it says signature down near the bottom.

I'll take care of the karma too!

Spoke to Spartan today about tapping into the air system for toad brakes. They responded the way I thought they would....NO. They don't want anyone tapping in for any purpose. They suggested that I upgrade the air system with an additional compressor and tank for the toad brakes. I have decided to reinstall the SMI Silent Partner. The guys at SMI (Pete and his son) should be available to help by phone if I have a problem.

Jerry, I am amazed at the conflict of information, as I have recently had my private tech install the M and G system in my coach/toad.
Yes, I do have the auxillary tank in the engine compartment of the toad for the toad braking, but NEWMAR told my tech they would SUPPLY a "check valve" they wanted him to install on the coach to insure that the toad doesn't steal the coach air.
NEWMAR said they were worried that if this happened, it MAY pulse the ABS brakes on the coach.
My private tech was also told this "check valve" would even be an option on future coaches.
As I mentioned previously, I had committed to M and G already, as my '07 K2500 has hydraulic brakes.

I would be happy to get you in touch with my tech for further clarification.

In closing, your choice of SMI is a great one and you won't have any trouble getting help from Pete.

An FYI. I am specifically asking for an air tap from Newmar in the config of my potential EX (per postings on iRV2) as I want to have option for the M&G toad system.

At least as of last week, Newmar, through HRVC, said no way. Of course, I have not given up yet and may know more next week. If a Newmar installed air tap is again declined, thus negating M&G, fortunately SMI's Air Force 1 is tough to beat too. Go figure. Never a clear message eh?
