Saw my first Newaire today, it was headed North on I-5 in Northern California. Very sleek looking, not pulling anything.

I have seen a Newaire at a rental agency up where I live and also in a car dealership next door. Not sure if its a rental or going to be for sale.
Ya beat me to it 66.

The one I saw today had Newaire printed on the side, below the stripe. It was pretty large lettering, as I was able to read it from the other side of the interstate.

If they came out with this today it might sell. It was all electric and fuel efficient due to it's styling. There is one that comes to Holland Motor Homes every year I think for service here in Michigan and sits in the lot for a couple of weeks. I drive past there a few times a day so I always look. They are selling for more now than when they were introduced back in 2000.

In 1999 a close friend had a friend (great information that way) that was given the job of designing a small and expensive motorhome for Newmar. It was driven from the owner of Newmar and most Newmar workers thought it would never sell. But the guy, a design engineer, was told to complete the project. Newmar thought older and wealthy RVers who wanted to down size would buy the Newaire.
In June 2000 a sales rep drove the first produced Newaire from Nappanee to the Newmar International Rally in Gillette, Wyoming for showing. I talked to him and he said it was difficult to drive and was all over the road and he had to keep the speed below 60 mph. A Newmar engineer said he was aware of the handling problem and was working on it. A salesman for a large Newmar dealer also got to drive it and complained about the handling too.
My wife and I toured the Newaire and though it looked cheap with decor from the 1950s and there was no storage space. Everybody touring the Newaire had the same comments. I bet Newmar wishes they had never spent all that money designing the Newaire.

OK folks, want to buy a 2001 NewAire? There is one for sale by the original owner for only $149,000. An optioned NewAire had an MRSP around $200,000 so it appears it is holding its value rather well. This NewAire only has 21,000 miles. Better buy it quickly because NewAires don't go on the market very often. I once knew how many were made, but I forgot. I know there were only a handfull made.
This add has some nice pictures of the exterior and interior.

Those interior shots are great; the seating reminds me of a luxurious pullman coach. The Newaire I saw had larger writing on the side, and it was slightly higher up. There are more around than I thought. Sorry to read about the handling, but one often gives up performance for style (I guess).

After living in a 2,3,4 slide motor home for years this would cramp ones style to down size into a Newaire.
