In talking to the Newmar factory Rep. he indicated there will be a significate change in the new 43' Dutch Star. Like wider front door, new colors and fabric, etc. Has anyone else heard of any new changes for 2009 Model that will be introduced in about a week.

At the Tampa NKK rally, John Sammut stated that the 2009 DSDP was being redesigned to give it a more upscale look in keeping with it's price.

No details yet.

Front was supposed to be redesigned and the interior options are supposed to be more in line with the higher line coaches (I honestly don't see that much of a difference now in the fronts of the units). Fabrics, tile and such. Speculation on my part is you might see them add a little wood valences and ceiling decoration you see on some of the high lines as well.

There is also supposed to be a change in construction where a certain process on the exterior walls was no longer going to be using a wood product but some sort of composite material.

Heard both of those from one of the Reps when we ordered.

Honestly its really *YAWN* for me. Your going to be paying around 7-10k in a price increase and what you are going to get is the same stuff you can put in as specials regardless. Not anything that I found really exciting and thats why we went with the 08 model instead of waiting for 09.

I have no clue about the material changing but it was mentioned and the rep said they would have more information on that once it was available.

Average price increase was supposed to be 3% but thats just an average I'd expect the lower end units to remain close to the same price while some of the units with bigger changes might see a higher price jump. That includes the Dutch Star. Again speculation on my part there.

You caught me mid edit but I heard that from Independence RV and they quoted someone last name Martin or Schoolman I can't remember.

They really didn't know a whole lot of specifics about it but it was something passed on to me. I am by no means an insider like some of you so please don't take it as Gospel. Just passing on what I was told.

Newmar has traditionally used a plywood based sidewall with a fiberglass skin.

The sidewall supplier has had on and off again problems over the last several years with inferior plywood that was not properly cured by the plywood manufacturer.

Apparently, improperly cured plywood was not always discernible from properly cured plywood.

If improperly cured plywood is used in the sidewall, and the coach is in a hot climate with lots of sun exposure, the plywood continues to cure, causing visible imperfections on the exterior fiberglass sidewall.

These imperfections can be few or many, difficult to see or they may stick out like a sore thumb.

This condition is known as "post cure".

Last September, Newmar repainted my entire coach because of the post cure problem. It looked great after the work, but the problem is back.

I'm going back to factory on May 5 for this issue.

The all man made composite sidewall is the "C200 sidewall". It is as smooth as glass.

It's my understanding that many of the highline coaches already have the C200 sidewalls.

I have a sample, and it is the only way to go.

If I was buying a new coach, I would write in the contract that C200 sidewalls must be used.

New product preview is taking place right now. I do know that the comfort drive feature has been "enhanced". Pricing across the board will not change much.

"Sir, I am unaware of any such activity or operation - nor would
I be disposed to discuss such an operation if it did in
fact exist, sir."

(extra points if you know what movie that came from)

HMMMMMMMMM..... You talkin' about a knob? So what exactly does the knob do, anyway? OH, I got it, it plays "Right into to the danger zone, the danger zone", kind of "TOP GUN" like.
Nice improvement Ken.
Play it again, Sam.

Peter
