We have a 2000 Newmar and this is a great unit, very solid. I highly recommend Newmar products.

I talk with Newmar and they told me that the Kountry star will still be into production in 2006.

buc1980 -- It's my understanding that there are several different floorplan options for the Kountry Star... Is the model 35LKSA still going to be one of them in '06?

Thanks in advance.

robertsonthego -- Thanks for the response re: the Chevy 4500. I understand where you're coming from in regards to a bigger truck, but I really don't think we'll need anything larger. Besides, hb would probably drive the 4500 back & forth to work.. anything bigger would take up too much space in the small parking lot where he works!! LOL

Thanks for your suggestion.

hometowngal, I understand completely what you are saying about size, but I don't really think the class 6 tractor will be much bigger than the 4500. I'm thinking of the Volvo 610 single driver in particular. The only issue some people have is it is very hard to find an automatic tranny in the class 6s. I know someone here has a link to the guy that sells these. I'm not a salesman, I just wish I had bought one, it makes perfect sense (to me anyway). Whatever you get, enjoy it. John

i stopped at the dealer over the weekend. Seems it is a done deal. American Star, Kountry Star and Mountain Air is discontinued. Replaced by the Cypress and Torre Pines. Kountry Aire will remain as top of the 5er line, but will be slightly downgraded. Also, there will no longer be any cross ordering of options. What I mean is, my `05 Kountry Star order (on order now) has a few options from the Mountain Air option list. And I'm making some minor changes to the bedroom cabinetry. New policy is if it isn't on the option list, you can't get it.

The Cypress is quite like and is probably a direct replacement for the Kountry Star, I think there was some ID confusion between the MOHO's and the Fivers so they are changing. The Mountain Aire is a beautiful Trailer the Kountry Aire is a work of art.

We have a '01 KS35LKSA. Has been a pretty good rig. A few things have come up and Newmar/Dealer has taken care of them. The 3 year warrinty was a deciding factor when we bought.

I will look real hard at Travel Supreme next time.

These things are heavy. My rig loaded for fulltimming comes in at close to 16,250-16,500 lbs. Pin is 33-3500 lbs. I pull with a '01 F350 DRW. Does a good job.

With the model changes and re-naming the product line, Newmar has been known for making heavy rigs with not enough brakes or axle capacities. Make sure you know it's true weight and get the biggest brakes you can.

In '01 they only used 6K axles and 6K brakes. I ordered mine with 7K axles and 8K brakes.

Good luck. Jim

Maiden voyage went extremely well. Only thing we found wrong was one of the drawer latched in the bathroom doesn't latch and one of the recliners' footrest doesn't retract properly. We ran everythihng from the generator (yes it has an onboard 5.5KW Onan) with the A/C running, the heater, plugged into CG power, HWH on both gas and electric. (at the dealer we parked the 2 trailers door to door. Had the generator and A/C running in both for the 3 hours it took to move everything) Everything works fine.

Our previous trailer was a Kountry Star too and we cannot beleive how much more upscale this one seems to be and how much more room 6' in length gives us (previous trailer was 31' 6", this one is 37' 6"). My wife ran out of things to put in the cabinets. An I have enough room in the outside storage to stow a lot of stuff that I had to carry in the truck. Now all I have to do is learn how to use the entertainment system.

007 - Absolutely. stop by and I'll be happy to show you around. Can sit and enjoy a cold refreshment too.
