We bought a 1997 American Star XL by Newmar about 3 years ago. I have been well pleased at it's condition. I have had 2 leaks. It appeared that a previous repair open up... Thank goodness for Eternabond.. Last weekend I managed to locate an overhanging tree at the left front corner..Thank goodness for Eternabond.. Other than those obvious contact leaks it appears sound.

We have a Newmar 5th wheel group on the forum and I'm sure you will get the answers you need.
Newmar construction you will notice the slide unit is a complete box sealed all around never seen separation of floor from sidewalls.

Have a 97 kountryaire purchased new and only leak was a clearance light on the rear. Replaced ALL clearance lights with peterson LED lights which solved leak (no damage) and gave decent clearance lighting. Only other problem has been with the Dexter brakes. Will have to replace the main slide out rollers this summer as the plastic covers on one roller is wearing out

We are in our third Newmar and have been very pleased with build quality. As mentioned before we had minor leak from clearance light and had a few drips from tv antenna crank, found boot on ant wire had worked its way loose. Quality is great but when you run a small house down the highway at 70 mph anything can happen.

2005 Mountain Aire fiver, owned since 2007. No issues other than regular maintenance until this week. We have towed close to 50,000 miles since '07, do not know the mileage before then but it was not much.

Had a spring eye fracture this week while on the road, discovered after we go into a campground fortunately. See my post in the Fifth Wheelers thread about the spring bushing issue, which, as it turns out, was caused by the broken spring eye.

Currently on the third day of trying to ID the correct replacement spring. A lot of finger pointing between Newmar, Dexter, and MorRyde, but no one can ID the spring! Local tech is investigating having a new spring made locally.

Other than the current frustration we are extremely happy with the Mountain Aire and plan on keeping it for a long time. We have had some cabinetry mods done inside to match our needs and replaced the rocker recliners, but other than that the coach has been comfortable and reliable.
