Hi,

Another question from a Newmar wanna (going to) be. Does Newmar make their own slide mechanism or if not whose? Never having owned a mh with slides want to learn as much as possible.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Just a heads up. Newmar had the patent on the mechanical cog wheel slide mechanism. Very simple, very sound, very dependable. For two years now they have been working with HWH on a hydraulic system.
Beta units have been in the field for a couple years. The new high end models has it in the 2016 models. This is a major change! The benefits mean, no more roller scratches on expensive tile floors, no more major seam in the floor between slide area, floor. A few more inches in ceiling height, and a few more inches in the storage bay.
But with any new major change.....the proof is in the pudding. Big gamble, dad.'s old patented rock solid system, as opposed to sons new vision to improve the product. Only time will tell.

DGBPokes, thanks for the input. I have HWH levelers and they seem to do quite well, and have had them on other motorhomes. So while change may be in the works, at least they are working with a good company. And from what I've read, Newmar will stand behind the product.
