Newmar Cabinet Screws

One of the screws to the upper cabinet support arm broke. I went to Ace Hardware and could not find a screw with a shoulder similar to the Newmar screw.

I sent an email to Newmar Parts requesting they send me a half dozen screws. Newmar Parts responded today telling me, "we only sell screws in mass bulk (in boxes by the thousand). Your best bet would be to check another hardware store for a similar screw."

Does anyone know of a source for this type screw with a ˝ inch shoulder? See photo.

On edit: The screw is 1 Ľ inch long and close to a size 7 or 8 at Ace Hardware. The issue is the shoulder.

The pocket hole screws look very similar to the Newmar screw. Not sure about the diameter.

looks almost identical to me... I bet a 1 1/4 course thread pocket screw could be a close enough match. Home depot has them, you can carry your screw with you and compare.

I have some if you want to measure one.

Why not just use a screw that you have with a WASHER ?

The problem is the screws I found at the hardware store do not have the shoulder. They are mostly thread.

The screw shown in the photo is one of the correct screws from another cabinet.

From where in the cabinet did it come?

Does the metal bar in the photo have anything to do with it, or just for size?

I know a lot of RT manu's use pocket screws for a ton of their interior work, and while Kreg is a brand, there are many brands of pocket screws with heads like this one.

Is the drive square?

The screw goes into the hole in the arm in the photo. This arm holds the cabinet door open.

I have just used a #8 sheet metal screw of the appropriate length. The addtional threads really don't hurt anything.

I agree. Threads really shouldn’t be an issue, however you could put a sleeve on the end.
Or, call Newmar and ask that they might throw a few screws in a pouch and send them to you.

I asked Newmar for a half dozen screws and was told no. They probably sweep out much more than that in the trash each day. They certainly didn't take the effort to assist the customer.
