Newmar Canyon Star slide

We purchased a new Newmar Canyon Star 3722. We were having problems with the passengers side rear bedroom slide. When the slide is fully extended out the top will be a few inches from sealing. If I bring the slide back in a few inches it will seal. We brought it in for warranty work and that was one of things we had them check. We were told that you must (once fully extended) push the top (inside) of the slide to make it seal. No adjustments needed?? I canít believe this.
Does anyone else have this problem?

I think the dealer is full of baloney - our passenger side rear slide seals just fine with just the in and out switch. They do need to adjust the slide. Once properly adjusted they will perform very well as ours have for almost three years.

Hi - That sounds absolutely ridiculous. Give Newmar a call and ask them who in your area can fix the issue properly. No one makes a slide that requires the user to"push to close". I'd love to know who that dealer is so others can avoid him.

That's crazy. The slide should seal by itself when fully extended. I second the idea of calling Newmar customer service to find a dealer who can adjust your slide properly.

I have this exact problem with my rear wardrobe slide. I brought this to the attention of a service teck while at Newmar for warranty work. The slide is so light and only connected at the bottom that this is common to happen. I just push the top of the slide, after extending the slide out, to make a complete seal. This has become a normal procedure.

Thanks For the follow up on this issue. Did you call Newmar about this?
I won’t be picking up the Coach for a couple of weeks,, see what the dealer tell me, then call Newmar to see if that is normal?

I had a Bay Star that was doing the exact same thing. It was the slide topper that was at fault. It had to much tension in the roller. Once the tech backed the tension off the slide operated normally.

I have 2017 Baystar and while under warranty had adjustment needs on two slides. While on the road, used two different approved Newmar Service Centers. Still had issues. Next spring, I planned my travels through factory at Napannee and they resolved them. No issues in over two years.

Part of my routine is to extend the bedroom slide then push on the top of the slide. Only one of three slides I have to do this with. As others suspect it’s due to the topper being a bit tight.

Our CS3719 is same. Did CPU at factory and were told to give it a push to seat. It is a very light slide and was adjusted as loose as they could. Quick push seats it with very little pressure.

I hope you get the problem fixed, it sounds like a silly thing but as others have said simple fix.

How Do you like the coach otherwise? Have you had it weighed? I am asking as it is a really nice mh but have read that there was very little cargo carrying capacity.

We had the same problem and I believe that PaulTNaples is correct, have them look at the slide topper tension. After having this serviced at the dealer twice they could not align it correctly and wanted to install leveling blocks that would change the angle of the slide. This seemed more like a patch than a repair. I had it serviced at Newmar and they confirmed that it was the slide topper tension. They then had to re-align to correct adjustments the dealer made.

The bedroom slide is a relatively light weight slide and not very deep so the tension on the slide topper is enough to pull it in on the top.
