Good morning!
Have a question this morning?
Why do I have to pay for factory pick-up at NEWMAR?
Does any other manufacturer charge for p/u?
Thanks for your input.

It's a service that the customer pays for that is not built into the RV's price, so they charge for factory delivery.

Normally, delivery is a dealer expense.

Thanks Dirk for the quick answer.
Should the Dealer not pay for it... to Newmar, since I do not pay for the drive to the Dealer.
Or do I not understand this system?
I just want to let no UNKNOWN driver head down the road?

RVgreetings

A Newmar Sales Rep told me the dealer should knock off an additional $800-$1000 if you pay for a factory delivery.

It's my understanding it's part of the dealer franchise agreement, that as part of the sale the dealer will handle delivery.

I don't think it's a negotiable item with a dealer. If you take factory delivery, then the dealer makes more profit as he doesn't have any time in the delivery.

I wonder if anyone has received that additional discount?

Newmar prefers the dealer handle delivery, and Newmar has no delivery techs as such, and Newmar charges a premium for it.

Learn as you go.....
Thanks for the answers... You want to be careful with your MH and somebody other gets even paid for it!!! That happens, when you do pay for the asking price!!!! Never again will my old Newmar Dealer see me again... lots of other reasons too.....
Oh - he just bought only an entry level MH!!!!!
Next one please....
I guess some of the Dealers are the old USED car dealers....
I'm happy, that we have this site here for us old and new RVers.
Thanks again, will let you know down the road, what we bought and where.

I have not done a factory pickup, but its my understanding that it is more than going to the factory, them handing you the keys and you drive off. It consist of about 5 days of getting on-site help learning your coach plus having it there at the factory where you can get problems immediately fixed by them.

I also understand that some dealers will give a little better deal to you because they do not have to handle the coach, thus it saves them some money.

If I had a dealer that I really trusted to help me with the coach and fix problems quickly, I might take delivery at the dealer. If not, then I would want factory delivery on a high priced item like a motorhome.

As was mentioned, factory delivery is not the norm and not built into the price. That's why it is extra.

Thanks Bonita and Ben,

after the 45 minute Demo to the new MH at my local Dealer, heck I live just 2 miles away, from a kid (a Demo person - his first Demo of a class A)I was so fed up, that I left and will never go back, not even for a sewer hose!!?
I would love to pay for a factory Demo and pick-up myself. I know everything could be fixed right away and my wife and I would be happy, maybe I even understand how to operate everything!!!? and the workings.
You pick up a new airplane and that includes a factory course of the ship... at least now I know a bit about MH pick up at the factory!!!
Thanks for all your help...

RVgreetings

Here is a link to another thread on factory delivery that might be of help to you.

Factory pickup

RV Salesmen rank about where used car salesmen do in my book. Very few that you can really trust.
