Newmar Cycle.....
If this is just a "Yearly Cycle" as some has posted, are those laided off knowing/expecting that it would come...........?
100 worker's is a ton of a workforce building this units............
I feel bad for those laided off!............

Just doing a quick count on RV Trader, there are over 170 DSDP 2016 units in current dealer inventory.
Excluding any pending sales, that represents a lot of floor planning $$$. Couple that with front axle corrections that will cost Newmar, the slow down and layoffs are understandable.
Unfortunate for a lot of reasons, on a lot of levels...

FWIW wasn't there something running about Newmar adding workers a while back? It could be that the third shift or whatever was not working out as needed so they did a bit of house cleaning as part of shutting it down.

I leave to pick up my 2016 dsdp 4313 next Sunday at the factory..mine was delayed for the axle issue and now I get it right before the 2017's...I am not sure what the big difference will be as I am getting the bigger front axle...no one mentioned 365 front tires? I hope they will be 365.
I guess I have what will be conside red a 2016.5..lol. if they would just badge it a 17..it would help my resale a ton.

You got it right Tomcat. Some of the antiquated build practices, such as the hang wall construction, fully framed windows and custom wiring, are the methods allowing Newmar to customize the coaches without major capital layout. Newmar is the only one to allow the high degree of customization in this price range.
Potential quality and engineering issues happen, but Newmar has been standing behind their product better than many other higher tech producers of RV's.

Will the 315's and not the 365's, but at least you will be getting the 18K axle right from the factory and not a retrofit that you have to wait to be done. Not a bad trade off.
Good luck with the PDI and enjoy.

Let us know but I do not think you will be getting the 365's. My understanding is the wheel wells needed to be reworked to fit them on the 2017. Randy
