As the 12 mo warranty is about to expire on my Ventana I figured it was time to take care of one last (very small) item before I'm on my own.
The repair facility I have used in the past has been authorized to do Newmar warranty work and is much closer to me than the dealer I purchased the coach from. I have had the few issues that have come up taken care at this facility (satisfactorly I would add) instead of spending the time and extra fuel to drive the 100 mi round trip to the dealer.
Anyway.... I just got a call from them telling me that Newmar declined the repair and stated that they would no longer be authorizing warranty work for anybody but their dealers.

Figured some here might like to know this.

Hi! Thanks for the heads up. Maybe in these tough times for dealers, maybe Newmar is trying to direct all service work to them. Might help keep their shops busy? Paul

Read your warranty policy. I haven't read mine recently, but I don't recall that it limits warranty repairs to dealers only. I think it includes authorized repair centers, some of whom are not Newmar dealers.

It's possible that non dealers are no longer "authorized".

How bout instead.... you reread my post. I said that a service facility that has been doing warranty service not only on my Newmar but many others over the years told me that Newmar refused my claim and that they told him that they were only going to allow service at "authorized dealers" from now on.
This is news for repair facilities and owners who use them instead of taking it to a 'dealer' for warranty service.
Apparantly Newmar can un-authorize repair shops who are not 'dealers' if they feel like it and it looks like they've done just that.

Newmar "authorizes" each and every warranty item before anyone, dealer or service center, can proceed with any warranty work. Sounds like they are only going to "authorize" warranty work when it is requested by one of their dealers.

That is truly too bad....when mine was under warranty, I got unsatisfactory repairs/service from the dealer 100 miles away and had most all of the remainder of my service done by a great general rv repair shop IN my home town..and it was at $75/HR, instead of the $110 from the dealer...and done right the first time

This will give the dealers more work to help offset the loss of sales.

It's in Newmar's interest to help their dealers stay solvent.

I contacted Newmar, and heard back from Carl Snyder, who said this was not the direction Newmar was going, and said it was the first he had heard of any such situation. He would let me know if there was any change.

Purhaps Mr Snyder should give Lances RV Service in Tucson Az a call and tell him to resubmit the claim because it was all a mistake.
Ol Lance was pretty much freaking out at the prospect of a 'warranty work at dealers only' trend.
Glad I'm not trying to make a living in the RV business these days.

It has been my experience that not everyone at Newmar gets the latest news at the same time.

It's also quite possible that highline has different rules than non-highline.
