As some of you know I own a campground. Many groups approach me w/rally requests. One group this past summer was a Winnebago owners club. I was chatting with them and it came up that I owned a Newmar. The response was less than subtle, i.e. oh a Newmar owner.

I inquired and it came up that Newmar owners are snobs.

Now this is only from one wagon master of one Winnebago owners group in rural New York. However, it seemed to come across from them that this was common knowledge.

Anyway, I don't believe that. Seems the Newmar group of owners is more generous w/time and help across any RV than most. Secondly, Winnebago seems to be considered a premium brand up to the 40' coach. I certainly had them in my short list until I decided to go 43' or longer. Third, Newmar has a product line across all price points.

Our own Bob Gregory can't say enough nice things about Winnebago.

All that said, perception is often more important than reality. Are we perceived snobs? (I wouldn't understand why) Or perhaps more passionate than most? (seems Winnebago owners are just as passionate) Or is this a unique opinion?

This is only for discussion. I find it interesting on how opinions are formed.

Could you ask the wagon master how he formed his opinion? I have not heard or felt this in my travels or RV interactions.

Great Scott, that's terrible. I've never thought Newmar or any in particular make owners were considered snobs. That would be steriotyping RV groups. There are snobs with all makes, and then there are just plain down to earth folk like us.

Scott, I would have to think that these images are spun from individual incidents that don't reflect the true natural to be able to generalize any group of people in that manner. Geez, I mean I even wave at 15 year old gassers. I guess that's not supporting the image though.

Scott, first of all you're 100 percent correct.
If Winnebago made a 45' coach I'd own it...right now.

Secondly, I've traveled ALL OVER the U.S. in recent months and even in the Black Pearl, NO ONE has ever called me a snob....or even an S.O.B.

As the wagonmaster of the 2007 iRV2 National, I'd love to meet the Winnebago owner and hear his side of the story.

Point is, the folks at ABC in Branson tried to hire ME, as they said I was the easiest going wagonmaster and the most conscientious wagonmaster they'd ever dealt with...

Seems the most recent wagonmaster they'd encountered spent the entire week at the pool and they had to chase him...

Just in case ya'll haven't heard...I happen to love Newmar AND the Newmar Kountry Klub, which is made up of Newmar owner...

NO WHERE in my 26 years of real estate have I ever come across a group of nicer folks.

Scott, if you have the gentleman's number, give him mine and invite him to call me...

I get more of an OHHHH Newmar...but always positive. I have no idea but sometimes top of the line implies rich and rich implies snob. None of it could be further from the truth IMO.

Roll on

The only thing I get is. Whoa Newmar makes a great coach. Can I see the inside? And mine is just a Kountry Star Gasser...

I haven't met that many Newmar folks but of the dozen or so I've talked too everyone has been very nice and helpful. Especially when I tell them we are considering Newmar and want to ask them some questions. I've yet to meet a single person IRL that had anything bad to say about Newmar. All of the owners have been very nice as well.

I think most Newmar owners are proud as punch of what they are lucky enough to own. We think we have a product that is special and the people we have met with Newmar products are special as well. (That doesn't mean that other brand owners aren't) But, this will come across as being snobish. Maybe we do carry our heads a little higher, who knows.

Everytime I tell anyone that we have a Newmar I also get "Oooooo! NEWMAR!" We purchased ours used in April from an elderly couple that had owned it for 9 yrs. and kept it in pristine condition. Just country blue...which will be replaced. BUT, whenever anyone comes in they all ooooh and aaaahh - big, roomy, convenient and no problems and don't expect any. I tell everyone to buy Newmar!

Since this was just one person's comment, I don't think it's the general perception.

I've never heard of any comments like that one.

Wasn't there someone that posted a whaile ago that had an incident with a KK rally. As I recall he was not a member and stumbled into a rally and if I recall they were down right rude to him. Anybody remember that. If so that sure doesn't help the image.

Maybe, just maybe, he was at the Tampa RV show last year and saw that Newmar was off all by our lonesome, had our own tram service and were having a good old time. That could give him the idea that we are snobs. [Bob invite him to a bar-b-que]
If I go to Fl this winter I will be right back at the same spot as last year[we may hit the desert]
Spoke to a owner of a Tradewinds by National he thinks the NKK is a great club
