I want to make a few changes on a Ventana I am purchasing and have received a Newmar quote through the dealer I am puchasing the coach from for the associated parts. Does anyone know or have experience purchasing things like a replacement mattress or a replacement night stand? Is this equipment marked up like a new coach is and is it reasonable to expect or ask for a discount such as the 21% I understand is typical on a new coach?

DLane, you are good to the Dealer....
the RVers here on this site talked about 28 - 30 %. No idea on aftermarket stuff....
RVgreetings from the Great White North... (yes - even here around Vancouver is it white)

DLane,

Check with other dealers on pricing. We got our coach from Lee's RV City in Oklahoma City and got a much better deal than 21% and that was before the downturn in the industry. You can do better. We also found when getting quotes from different dealers that the cost of Newmar custom work changed according to the dealer. Some dealers wanted to tack on some profit points to the custom bill. Lee's RV passed the Newmar cost thru with no markup.

You also should consider what things you want them to do and what things you want to do after taking delivery. For example, we knew exactly what mattress we wanted. So we bought it and it was waiting for us to get the coach and put it in. In hindsight, we should have just said "no mattress" on our custom list and we wouldn't be storing the original that Newmar provided in our storage facility to this day. Wa also asked for no sofas and added our own chairs later.

For Newmar to replace one nightstand with something like they have in another coach, your cost shouldn't be all that much. Keep checking those prices!!

Don't forget Camp Newmar Winter pricing (usually Jan-Mar) which applies not only to labor but also to parts!
