Newmar RV Sani Con option

Is the Sani con option on 2018 Dutch Star (or any model for that matter) a good option to buy? Thoughts?
Thank you

I have it in my 2018 DS, and like it in theory, however in the DS installation, Newmar has mounded the pump upside down (the outlet is on top instead of the bottom as intended by Thetford)and this is causing water to remain in the 3 inch hose and pump, causing a foul smell. I have brought this up to Newmar and they are checking into it.
As far as other models, the MA and up use a different system that is much better.

Hi msobie236,
Installed a Sanicon system in my coach 11 years ago. It has not been off the coach since installed. Follow the instructions. Put nothing in the black tank other than poop, urine and toilet paper. i also use Tethford eco smart enzyme digester. The unit works as advertised and I would make the same purchase again.

I have it in my 2017 DS & love it. It is just so easy & clean to deal with.

I can bypass it with a stinky slinky in about 5 seconds anytime I want - but never have.

If at an event & need a dump service, they just bypass it & reconnect it for you. No mess at all.

Our is the standard Sanicon - I think it is slower than the one being used on the 2018 & still I have no problem with the extra 4 or 5 minutes it takes to dump.

I would have a problem with the 2018 being mounted up side down & not allowing the hose to run free. Especially when I want to let my grey water tank flow free.

As far as the gray water, I do leave the valve open and it seems to drain, leaving the 3” hose and pump full of fluid. I was told today that Newmar is waiting until next week for Thetford to “audit” their installations.....I will let you know when I get any information.

If you look at the pump, it is cam shaped configuration, so it can’t be rotated without a different bracket . I’ll keep you posted

Today I Finally got a call back from a supervisor at Thetford, he was sure the pump mounting bracket was two pieces and it could be rotated, just got home and looked, nope one piece[emoji15]absolutely no way to turn it!

Is everyone with the 2018 design only using it to dump and then storing it? My hose stinks terribly. I have a new on on order but if it doesnt show up tomorrow, I’m taking that sanicon system out. It’s smelling up the whole Coach. Newmar and Thetford say they’ve never heard of it. I just wish they’d come visit me.

What Thetford suggested as a interim solution to the smell was to after dumping both tanks, shut both valves, put chemicals in the tank with a couple gallons of water then dump that fluid to fill the hose and pump with chemicals. Of course if you leave the gray valve open it will push a lot of the chemicals out. This design is really bad.

I agree, that’s what I have been telling Thetford for 4 months now. Part of the problem is that Newmar has put the drain valves really low in the wet bay.
