Rumors have it that Newmar will be joining those manufacturers that are currently offering full wall slides. The models it may appear on however is unknown. My best guess would be on their entry level coaches.

Not Soon. Now......... We went on the Factory tour last Wednesday and Darla pointed out the full wall slide out DSDP in production. She said that they had already built one for the Louisville show and the one we were looking at was number two. It appeared to be a rear bath floorplan and there were some supports (temporary) in the big hole in the side about half way down. It was being built on what looked like a standard Spartna chassis. I took some pictures whihc I can post when I get home tonight if anybody wants to see them.......

I would guess the slide will be loaded on that chassis. Could you see if they were useing their reliable electric motors again.
So much for the GAS UFO PLATFORM but its early yet.

I frequently read the posts in this forum. I will soon be getting a new Essex provided to me by the company that I work for.
Upon reading the subject matter of this post I thought that I would share with you my extra large double slideout.
Each slideout is approximately 37 feet long by 7 feet deep and the open unit is about 1,000 square feet.
For the last ten years I have been involved in it's development. It is a full Ambulatory Surgery Unit which can be part of a full mobile hospital. I will attempt to include the link to the web site that shows the full unit.

Bill -
Your new mobile unit is an Essex -- or are you talking about 2 different coaches?

Bill....if you have 2 seven foot deep slides and they are across from each other, how can they close without having to evacuate everything from one side of the coach, assuming one floor will ride ontop of the other?

There was a full wall slide model on display at the Essex Junction Rally. I think it was a gas model and a Kountry, Bay or Canyon Star.

Footdoc,
What I posted about is not a coach, It is a 53 foot trailer that is used as a mobile surgery unit. The slideouts are designed to fit within each other. If you imagine a box within a box, you can visualize how they work. One slideout is slighty smaller than the other and both of them then fit into a longer and taller box, (which is the trailer). The open unit is almost three times wider than a maximum legal highway trailer, (approximately 22 feet wide). I mostly posted here to show how truly large that a slideout could be. Here is the link again if you are having any trouble visualizing how it works. The floor is also hinged and folds up when closed. You are also correct in that when closed it is not at all functional as every millimeter of space is used.
Sorry if this post was confusing.
