We will be heading to the east coast in late September and would like to take a Newmar factory tour in Nappanee. Does anyone know how to set this up or who to talk to? Also is nearby parking or do we need to find an RV Park?

direct from Newmar's website :

Newmar Factory Tour

We'd love to have you visit our state-of-the-art production facility in Nappanee, Indiana. Factory tours are given Monday through Friday at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. (Indiana time). Please arrive 15 minutes before the hour and check-in at the tour area that is located in Building Nine on Cheyenne Street. No open-toed sandals can be worn and children under the age of eight are not allowed to take the tour.

Please Note: The Newmar production facilities are closed for one week in July and two weeks in December. During these shutdowns, no tours are given. If you are planning to visit Newmar during these months, please call ahead to get specific shutdown dates.

For more information, please call 800.860.0086.

And I'll bet you can park that DSDP nearby, without fear of it being towed! ED

We did the tour last month. Remember no open toed shoes.
When you go down the road that Newmar is on, at the end on the right hand side is RV overflow parking. It is actually for people to park that are getting their RVs worked on and couldn't find a spot in the main full hookup lot. I believe there is elect. and water hookups there. The sites that don't have a cone in front of them are first come first serve. We stayed in an RV park 3 miles to the west of the plant.

We parked our Itasca Suncruiser at the fore-mentioned spot on two separate occasions while taking the tour and it didn't get towed. Then again, we had a 100 lb German Shepherd sitting on the front seat waiting for us to return.

It did look out of place there amongst all the Newmar coaches but it was fine. The tour is great. You start out with a movie, then hop on the bus (and old school bus, you'd think they'd at least use an Essex ) and take the walk-thru of the production line. The tour guide gives you wireless headsets so you can hear her and you can ask questions anytime. If there is a specific model you are looking at, tell her ahead of time so she can keep her eye open for one. If there is a unit your are really interested in you can usually go into it while they are working on it. Just don't bring your camera because the Amish workers don't want their pictures taken.
