All - Not to set up argument, but EVERONE NEEDS A DEDICATED WEATHER ALERT RADIO, Why? They work all the time, you cell phone only works if the tower is not gone. So the WX Radio will alert you to bad weather, most of them connect automatically to the local US Weather Service Office in the area you are in, and you can also get WX report. One saved life in AL when tornado alert was issued for area I was in, sleeping at the time, hooked up, and left away from storm. We never travel without one on all the time. We also have two at home for the same reason, one in lower level, one on main floor. You now can argue all you want about this.

I don't think relying on internet or cell phone is a good idea. Use a weather radio (battery). Know the county you're in and listen to it mentioned for details. Get out a state map that has the counties marked & you can follow the path as they mention counties.

I also wouldn't get into the storage bay of a motorhome.

If no block building around while driving lay in a low ditch, if possible. If there's a large stand of trees like the one in the picture I think I'd even get into the middle of them; lay down & hold onto one at ground level, if possible. That's the best you can do in semi-open country.

Many storms that generate tornadoes are accompanied by severe lighting. Laying on the ground in a stand of trees is not suggested, something in the electrical world known as touch and step potential. Here is a page from a long article that has more info. https://science.howstuffworks.com/na...lightning8.htm

I full time in Hackberry, LA for work, and where I am located, there is absolutely nothing I can do to protect myself in a tornado. I have seriously studied the terrain and surrounding area. Even jumping in the boat canal behind my camp site is too dangerous with all of the metal, glass, other debris, and possible dangerous wildlife (alligators included). My only chance is to get enough warning to try to get out in the MH and dodge it.
