Mine hangs in the barn. Toad is clean with no rock chips since removal. No hassle on uneven sites

Same here except mine was old/damaged and is now "dumpster art". No issues since removal and no more hassle.

No. Took it off an noticed the truck I pulled stayed much cleaner. My wife and boys said it looked better on so I put it back. Truck got dirty after driving and we went to a CG that had the ground slope up. Had to pull it back to keep from crushing it. Then realized when driving it can't be seen anyway since the truck is in the way. Besides I hate the whole advertising thing with the big NEWMAR on it. First thing I do when buying the MH or a vehicle is get the dealer stickers off. Same goes for the license plate frame

I did the same thing. That is where it belongs. First thing to come off the NA after delivery. It is nothing more than a road scrapping billboard. It serves no useful purpose and can cause significant damage encountering road debris.

What blows my mind is how many PM's I have gotten from other Newmar owners who want to buy my brand new Newmar road scrapper.

My flap has not thrown and debris up on my toad. No chips, scratches or windshield dings, and my flap has been on since the MH was new.

This discussion has had divided opinions for many years. Truth be told if one has never removed it and it works for them great.
For me being the anal individual that I am, having it get scratched up and dirty would just compel me to be under there cleaning and straightening. Now I can enjoy this wonderful billboard art in my RV garage where it will look new forever.

Ok, but the question is what purpose does it serve? I am only one year into my Newmar experience. One of my first questions to the dealer when I was kicking the tires before purchase was what purpose does that device serve? He didn't know. I have asked the question here on the forum, nobody seems to have the answer.

I am ok if it is just Newmar bling. The problem is this is a 30 pound piece of bling swinging below of some sensitive equipment moving along at 70 mph just inches off the road service. Considering all this, the device should serve some other higher purpose than advertising.

Newmar Wall Art

To be truly scientific, you would have to tow your TOAD over the same road under exactly the same conditions for hundreds of miles, with and without the flap installed. Many of us have removed them and had positive results, there are also mud flaps behind the rear tires. Some note that prior to removal, on certain gravelly roads, they actually found gravel on the hoods and front bumpers. They claim that after removal they no longer saw gravel on the hood and bumper. I for one think the mud flaps do most of the work, and as I stated before the cosmetics of a damaged, dirty flap isn’t for me.

I thought it was a legal requirement to have this on. Is it not or just practically speaking, unlikely to have a problem from?
