Next winter bookings

I'm going to Florida next month to scout for locations for next winter in Tampa and put down deposits. I'm looking at booking December through February.

We like culture, biking, fine dining.

These are my Tampa stops to check out:

Dunedin RV Resort 2920 Alternate 19 North, Dunedin, FL 34698 $1100 844-729-3877 (near bike trail) **

Sherwood Forest RV Resort 175 Alternate 19 North, Palm Harbor, FL $885 727.784.4582 (near bike trail) **

Caladesi RV Park 205 Dempsey Road, Palm Harbor, FL $975 727-784-3622 (near bike trail) **

Bay Aire RV Park 2242 US Alt 19, Palm Harbor, FL $940 727-784-4082 (near bike trail) **

Bay Bayou RV Park 8492 Manatee Bay Drive, Tampa, FL $900+ 888-692-2968 (Like this one based on reviews) near Olsmars near flea market

** Some of these look pretty run down but are in a good location for beach and biking.

Ft. Myers still researching.

Any thoughts or opinions?

I stayed there on my maiden trip home from Ft Myers after buying the coach. I was on Terry Street, we liked the park. I have to see how close the Tampa airport is to the park.

We’ve stayed at Big Bayou, the new sites they have are great for big rigs. Convenient to Tampa Bay Area as well as St Pete & Clearwater.

There’s also a KOA in St Pete on the intracoastal that’s close to beaches if you’re looking for that.

Lastly, not sure if it’s open yet but they are building a Guy Harvey outpost RV resort in Tarpon Springs (north of Tampa) that’s supposed to be very nice when done this spring (last completion date I heard)

I live one exit south of Sun N Fun and I can get to the Tampa airport in 45-50 minutes. I go up 275.

We have had relatives stay at the two that you mentioned on Alt 19 in Palm Harbor. The campground have been there awhile, but they seem to be well maintained and as you mentioned they are very close to the Pinellas Trail. You might also consider a new KOA on US 19N Tarpon Springs. They purchased an existing run down campground and have completely renovated the place. New plumbing and electric through out, landscaping and a newly renovated office and club house. I drove through there a couple months ago and the improvement is amazing. Their prices are going to be higher than the ones on Alt 19. 727-937-8412 is their number. I live in Palm Harbor and if there is anything I can do to help or check something out for you let me know.

We're in a condo (long story. We rented the condo before we bought our 2014 Newmar Ventana 4037 in December.) in the Ft. Myers area this month and loving the weather, which can be colder and wet a bit north of here, I understand. Next month we'll spend a couple of weeks at the Naples Motorcoach Resort and check out some of its competitors while we're there. Then we'll move up the Sarasota area where we'll spend a couple of weeks at the Clove Beach RV park.

We're also scouting for the next few years. Do not want to buy into any of these places. Prefer to rent and be flexible at this time in our lives.

Hope we can compare notes.

My parents had a place for 21 years at McMillen Booth and Tampa Road, we are very familiar the area and love it. I am looking forward to biking the Pinellas Trail again. We especially like Ruth Eckard Hall and all the great things to do in the area. I will definitely check out that new place. I called the number it's called the Clearwater Lake Tarpon KAO. I will be in town on March 9 and 10 checking these places out. I'm extended a business trip to do a little campground shopping.

I do not want to buy either, in my opinion it would be a waste of my money. (separate topic) I like going to different areas and moving around. Next winter if I can plan it right I would like to spend 2 months in Tampa/Palm Harbor area and then final month in Ft Myers.

Where is that? I googled but came up empty. I've been here all my life and never heard of it.
