No coach power w/o coach batteries

Two weeks ago, I purchase 2 AGM coach batteries to swap out the older and failing wet cells.
After I got the old batteries out of the coach, I noticed that my 2 replacement AGM batteries were not the same footprint as the originals, thus abandoning the install until the correct size battery can be obtained.
Since liquid sunshine rules the days up here in the Pacific Northwest, I thought I would plug the coach into shore power and warm up a bit with a glass of wine, but nothing inside the coach would would turn on when I toggled the battery/store switch on the control panel.
Am I to assume that shore power will not work if both batteries are removed?
Also the older wet cell batteries were quite swollen...maybe overcharged?

You are correct Mark, throw the old ones back in till you get the replacements..........if you want to use the Coach. Be sure that you have the battery cable ends insulated from grounding coming from your converter when you plug in to shore power.....

Hi Turbofans,
What palehorse89 posted should have been in bold type. If you haven't already make it a practice to tape all positive cables when they are removed from a battery.
