I'm on the road now and this morning I had the generator on but obviously I had too much running.....ie. two electric heaters and when I ran the electric kettle I lost power.

I now have no power in any of the electrical outlets (with the generator running) BUT I DO have power to the microwave ??

I checked the obvious ie. fuses and breakers and all ok.

What else can I check ?

Oh, I have the inverter on right now to charge my computer and those outlets are ok - but NOT when the inverter is off.

Have you checked your outlet with the reset button (sorry, can't remember the 'proper' name for it right now)?

I have had that trip but the breakers were all in the 'on' position. Once I reset that, it was fine.

BTW, it made no sense on which outlets it controlled as I still had outlets that worked- to include my microwave.

BINGO !! Whew, glad it was something simple - which I figured it had to be as the microwave was still ok. Adding that to my list of things to check should I lose power again.

This site ROCKS ! Thanks for such a quick response !

Because the microwave is wired through the inverter so the microwave was running off the batteries, not the genset.

BTW - future reference: there is also a circuit breaker ON the inverter... just like on the genset. If the inverter circuits were overloaded that could trip.

By the way.. Thanks.. Last night as I ran the Genny to power the A/C in the church lot one of the A/C's cut out suddenly just as we were about to shut down anyway to go inside for Choir practice.. I forgot to check the breaker today.. You just reminded me.

Ah, those trouble-makin' circuit breakers.

Sheila, Forgot to mention in my first post that yes, I had already pressed the reset button on the two outlets that have that.

They're called a GFI(Ground Fault Interupter). Usually around a sink or shower/tub.
