Did you try resetting the controller board by removing the power plugs from the board for a few seconds and plugging them back in?

I had an issue this year where the smart wheel controls would work briefly and then not work. Cruise, tilt, wipers etc. I took it to a Spartan authorized service shop. Consulting with Spartan they first thought it was the clock spring. They replaced the clock spring for $1300 and during the $75 test dive determined that it wasn't fixed. The next diagnosis was a full smart button replacement module. That $1500 repair worked. I hope you find a less expensive fix.

I had a similar problem with my Smart Wheel a few years ago. Replace the Smart wheel control and all has been fine since. I ordered the control box directly from Vehicle Improvement Products (phone 847-395 7250) part # SM210 Rev C. Price ws $178 plus $15 shipping.

I believe the cause of my failure was the headlight flashing feature on the smartwheel. On my coach, full headlight current was passing through the Smart wheel control module when the headlight lasher was used. I added relay to the headlight flashing wiring to fix this.

Head Lights was my issue also. Burnt the plugin pins on module. Soldered wires in direct and saved the module. Added the relay to take load off small wires and module.

come to find out the controller is from spartan. the fuse in the block of fuses is a 5 amp and it is good. i checked the fuse in the controller and it has no power. it has a letter e on it, whatever that means. should that fuse have power to it constantly?

i replaced the smart wheel controller.i now have power on the four wires from the clock spring. when i plug into the connection to the buttons for the cruise wipers and horn, and i test the back side of the plug to those buttons i only get a reading of 3.5 volts. spartan tells me they no longer have parts for it, and i have to buy a whole steering wheel assembly, how can this be possible

no it is the part of the steering wheel that has the control buttons for the cruise wipers and such, i did replace the controller module , located in the bay ahead of driver side front tire. i now have power on all four wires coming from the clock spring. now i know the clock spring must be good, so the only thing left that i can think of is the part of the wheel that house the push buttons
