I just wanted to say that I am still every bit in love with my Newmar Mountain Aire as the day I drove it off the lot. Newmar owners are the best, just this past weekend had the old owners come down to see how things were going. They also brought by the braces for the main awing and the air conditioner covers that they had bought for it. The gentleman walked me thru the MH and pointed out things they had done or replaced, giving hints and tips that I found very helpful. He told me about the filters he had installed, the type of oil he used and how often he had changed it. I finally got an explanation on all the keys the dealership had given me. He also pointed out that the dealership had removed the inverter that they had installed, could see where they had just cut the wires to remove. The wife noted that the washer/dryer was not the same one they had installed. (haven't tried this one yet to see if it works).
I did tell them that I had frequently cursed their son while I removed the vinyl flooring he had put down on the kitchen floor, they both like the results.
Any way, with so many post telling about problems, just wanted to show the other side of the coin. Will be taking the MH out the middle of September for a week at an OHV park. But so far, I haven't had anything go on that makes me want to cheat on this MH. I'm truly in love.
Thanks
Kaye

Are you saying the dealer removed and didnot replace the inverter... you have no inverter. If that is the case I would like to know the name of the dealer so that I never use them for anything.

The floor looks great will wear longer than a vinyl floor.
I'd check with dealer as to why inverter was removed and they changed washer dryer.
Have a gentleman with you.
Enjoy your trips and safe miles.

The problem with "confronting" the dealer is that the OP bought it as shown, not as the previous owners left it.
While the dealer has it in their possession they can make any modifications they want since they legally own it. Now if the dealer did the changes after the contract was signed then no, they can't do that.

You or I would have known and would have question the dealer as to why, inverter had to operate something.

I tend to agree with the idea that the lot then owned the MH and could do as they liked. The inverter was installed so the wife could watch TV while they motored on down the highway. I don't intend to use the TV much if at all, maybe the news, but probably not. The washer, don't know, the one now in it looks almost brand new (all the stickers are still on it) and is the Splendide 2000. Wife couldn't remember the make or model of what the hubby had installed.
Thanks on the thoughts of the floor, I love wood and couldn't stand the fact that under that vinyl was wood, so had to change it back. I put 3 coats of the poly coating on it, let it dry 24 hours between coats and steel wooled before each coat. I used a semi-gloss finish. I tried doing a white-wash oak finish, but didn't like it as well as the result I finished with.
The whole purpose of this thread to begin with was to point out that there really are people out their that love their MH's and tinkering and plotting changes are fun not problems.
Enjoy.
Kaye

The dealership may have removed the inverter and replaced the washer/dryer, but they also replaced the sofa with a new sofa/hide-a-bed and added a new leather swivel recliner with a detached footstool that has storage in it. Both of which I really like. On walk-thru before pick-up, they also put in a goodie stash, water hose, dump hose with attachment, bag of chemicals for toilet, water restricter, pig-tail to go from 50 to 30 amps and a few other small items.
I'm happy with them.

Inverters are an important piece of motorhome equipment and not just for watching television, but for operating any A/C powered equipment or appliance when not connected to shore power. A dealer that removed and did not replace one makes me wonder about them.
Does the coach have a separate converter/charger? Well this may be a moot point if you had an inverter installed.
The Splendide washer/dryer is a good washer. Many motorhomes use that brand... they aren't cheap. Sounds like you have a good one.

Romeo, not sure if I understand the question. If you're asking if the MH has a converter/charger to change 120 to 12 volt, then the answer is yes. Works really well. The inverter was not original to the coach, the previous owner had installed it up near the TV. Could be his installation was sub-par and that was why it was removed. Or, with the coaches being open to the public for display, it's not beyond the realm of possibility that someone ripped it off and not the dealership.
As far as too running other AC devices, isn't that what the genset is for?

I assume the inverter was a small unit just for watching TV and didn't power anything else in the motorhome. Dealers often remove items installed by owners that are installed incorrectly or don't meet standards. They remove them to protect themselves and the new owners.

Ok, I see what type of inverter you were referring to... and Norm's comment helped. On the 2000 DSDP we have a large 2000 watt inverter that is installed in a basement compartment. It inverts, converts, and charges. Apparently, your '96 was somewhat different.
Yes, the generator can be used to supply 110/120 vac, also. The inverter helps when one does not want to run the generator for small appliances... it draws from the house batteries and converts 12vdc to 110/120 vac.

Afubar I like your attitude, one question what chassis is your MA riding on?
I think I found my answer in one of your first threads.
Some day you may want to put in something like this:

007 - I believe it's the F53.
I LOVE what you have done with your table area. Where do you store your other chairs?
Here's a pict of my area:

I have a bath & 1/2 and the fold up chairs are in the rear bath against the linen closest held by bungee cord.
They could be in a full closet in bedroom if you have room or under bed if you have room.
The project is written up in Quick Tips & Mods item #3.
It wasn't that hard to do and wife was happy with extra storage room. She has difficulty getting under main kitchen cabinets.
It looks like you have extra room between your couch and corner wall for a longer counter over cabinets.
The reason I asked about your chassis was I had a 99 MA on Ford chassis and had problems with suspension but you have tag to carry the extra weight of your MA coach so should not have same problem I had.
