Agree totally. This has soured me, In the corporate world you usually move every 18 months- 2 years. If I get this next promotion I planned on looking at the MADP now they potentially lost this customer.

No Service from local dealer.

Is this a Newmar dealer phenomenon?

We previously owned a Winnebago DP bought out of state. We live in NJ and bought in PA at the time because the PA dealer happened to have exactly the unit we were looking for as a model year left over.

Anyway, the point is I had that RV serviced by two separate NJ Winnebago dealers under and out of warranty with no issues at all. They were both glad to take my business.

If I ever encounter any issues with local NJ Newmar dealers refusing service on my 2015 Ventana purchased at the Hershey, PA Rv show, this will be the last Newmar I ever purchase.

Newmar needs to make sure ALL of their dealers support ALL of their customers. There are many reasons an RV was purchased out of state, not always to "beat the local dealer out of a sale". This is a very bad reflection on Newmar to allow their dealer network to refuse service for their customers and will affect future sales of the brand.

I agree this is a weakness in the Newmar organization. Surely they could insert a clause in the " Dealer Agreement " similar to those in the Auto Dealer agreements that would force the dealers to accept warranty work regardless of purchase point.

I have had no problem getting warranty service from my local dealer, even though they did not sell me my RV. I have purchased one from them in the past, but that is not something I have mentioned to the service writer. They do have a very long lead time and that has caused me to go elsewhere at times, but that was my choice.

When I was still under warranty and had troubles on the road, Newmar was able to find a dealer on my route to assist.

I think the dealerships that act this way are ones that will not be Newmar dealers for long.

A dealership is privately owned. You cannot force them to work on your vehicle. All the factory can do is call the dealer and all the dealer has to do is say they are backed up!! The local dealer will do this to punish you because you did not buy local. That is his only way to play his hand. I am sure he hopes you tell everyone so the next person will think a little harder before buying out of town. The local dealer knows you are not his customer anymore.
When a person is traveling and has a problem that is a different story and the dealer will try to help them.
When I purchased I shopped and had the local dealer match the best price. I understand the value of local service. Bad service is better then no service. Dixie was my dealer then but now Berryland has the Newmar franchise.
