The Dometic roof air conditioners on our Mountain Aire make a sort of rattling noise when the fans run which you can hear -- and our neighbors hear -- outside.
Anyone else have this issue? Can you suggest any fixes?
Thanks.

That is definately not normal. The 45' MADP's air conditioners run very quiet, much quieter than many. I would take it to a dealer.

Concur with LugNut, not normal, our AC's run very quiet, neighbors most offer ask now we can stay in our RV without the AC running. They are very surprised to find out they are running.
Dealer visit should be in order.

Thanks, guys.
We're at the factory in early September and I'll certainly have them look into it.
We've noticed a similar noise on a few other late model Newmars as we've been travelling this year -- maybe it's just the way they sound but they're sure noiser than the Doemtics we had on our '01 MADP.

Radioman,
I had a noise coming from my AC unit also. I dropped the supply vents and found the plastic wrapper for the ductwork insulation was flapping in the breeze inside the duct. I was able to use a electrical fish and get the lose pieces to pop out. I don't know if that is what yours is doing but it is worth a look. I could hear the noise inside and out.
Thanks, Daryl

A friend has a new 08 DSDP with 15.5 acnd units. One was just replaced with a new unit and it has the same "rattle" one can hear on the outside but not inside. His other unit has some "rattle" but not as bad as the new one. My new 07 KSDP with 13.5 units do not make the same noise

One rattle is the squirrel cage blower contacting the housing (simple adjustment), another is the compressor vibrating something in the actual roof of the coach or perhaps causing a couple internal pipes to vibrate in the HVAC itself (tough to isolate), and yet another is that occasionally Newmar gets a bad batch of that foil faced tape they use to seal the HVAC connection joints and the foil peels causing a paper in the wind flapping sound (replace all that tape).
Taking off the top cover is the place to start and observe while running. Lightly pressing on the ceiling inside might identify a roof vibration. Knowing if it happens just at startup, after the compressor kicks in, or when the fan only is running are other isolation tricks. Of course, an appointment at Camp Newmar is by far the simplest!
