A K - following 007's post, I was a bit mixed up with the recalls as there exists many since 2000 - Last Summer I checked with Norcold and no recall but with the latest extended recall, I have a recall with the item described by you so I do not expect the Tech to do the previous recalls for which I was not targeted - anyway, recalls are recalls and in this USA it seems that lawer talk is more important than what I experience in Canada - everyone gets kind of 'anxious'

AK did they inspect the electric element holder attached to the heat pipe for yellow residue and did they even pull back the insulation to inspect that area?

Just confirmed today that our unit is in the recall. 06 Ventana 1200LRIM. Parts are ordered. See what happens when they come in. Thanks for all the info here. It allows an owner to understand if the repair is correct. I will keep you informed.

I have a 03 coach and have a TSB for the first Norcold recall that I have posted in forums.
What I need is the 2nd TSB for the 2nd recall.
Someone with a 07-11 coach may have the 2nd recall TSB in their coach parts link go on this link to access.
Input your coach number like mine 700693 add CS than click on GO and your coach number and chassis number will appear click on that and you will get all your coach parts and the TSB's for your coach.
If Newmar is on the ball you may have the 2nd recall in your TSB file.
If you find it post here on this thread.
Thanks for your effort.

Let's not forget DOMETIC has recall for cooling units also
It is not just Norcold with a problem with fires DOMETIC has a Newmar TSB also.
This TSB was issued in 2008 for 97-2003 refrigerators should all be done by now we hope but has same fire issue as Norcold.
Takes time to load be patient.

I have been following this Norcold situation very closely. Although my fridge is much older, single door, etc., I am very concerned. I heard that the 1200's were catching fire primarily when on AC. Then I read on the Monacoers site a few days ago that Mike Slaten and family lost their home due to an upper fire in the fridge compartment while it was running on LPG! The frustration is that they had installed a Halon extinguisher in the bottom area at the back of the fridge, and it had not activated. The motor coach was a total loss. Fortunately they were not home when it happened.
I question the safety of our Norcold fridges. I do wonder if Norcold are trying to 'glaze' the situation over, and let us find out for ourselves whether we have a problem or not.
From what I have read, Norcold have a real problem. They are now being guided by lawyers, and the policy is to admit nothing, EXCEPT, when we phone in to check if our fridge is on the recall list, then, we will be told to shut off all power to the fridge, and if we do not, if it catches on fire, it is OUR FAULT, NOT THERE'S!!!
We boondock a lot, and I don't know how we'll get by without a LPG fridge, but I'm sure considering getting a residential fridge.

I check the heaters myself. All Newmar did was install the high limit because Norcold wouldn't send me the part so I know it would be put on right.

For some reasons at times link goes to the login page for dealers.
Try this one Dick, Coach Parts Link.
Needs no pass word.
Enter your coach number with CS added on end of number.
When you get next page after hitting GO your coach number,Vin# and coach description will come up when you get that click on that and you will get your coach info.
Your coach is a 2009 will be interesting what you have for TSB's on Norcold recalls.
If you have a problem give me your coach number and i will try it from here.
Information is general nothing top secret.
