Recall seem to be proactive and they throw a wide net. How many fires have been atrrubuted to the reason for the recall?

I'm sure glad I happened onto this thread. A couple years ago we were in a RV park in Lake of the Ozarks. A 5th wheel about 10 spaces from us burned to the ground at midnight due to a refrigerator fire. What scared us is that we slept through the entire thing fire engines, police and lots of people watching! Fortunately the people inside heard the fire break out before the smoke alarms went off.
I called immediately and have the parts on order. I guess I need to check in at IRV more often!

Iron Man wish we knew they have had this problem for a long time their band-aide fixes are going to be interesting as we wait to see if they will work.
Switch shouts off power before fire starts or fire wins out before switch can work.

I just had my Dometic 2862 give the "yellow cloud death roll" and the recall fix didn't work I had to shut off the gas manually AFTER taking the cover off.
I sent Dometic an Email and all I got was an automated computer answer to check to see if mine refer was in the recall.

Thanks Dale, was there a heated burner tube to cause the recall switch not to operate?
How did you notice the problem smell or something burning?

We were at a Christmas rally and the refer stopped cooling.... Luckily we were running on electricity. I went out and checked the cooling unit and boiler. The boiler was warm but not hot. So, just for grims I switched it to gas and yes it kicked in. When I went to check the boiler again I checked the base of the refer and I could see the yellow/green fluid leak on the wood. I shut the refer off, unplugged the 110, pulled the cover and turned off the gas.

Finally had the recall done today. About 1.5 hours. Service manager said they have only done a few Norcold ones so far and 1 of those the control failed after about 1 week. That customer had just started their winter vacationand were 1000 miles away. He has cases of repairs for the Dometic recall. But the Norcold have to be ordered customer specific.
I just read that Electrolux owned Dometic from 1925 to 2001 and then sold it to EQT (The Dometic Group). Maybe that's why the fridges suck now.

With all the different discussions on Norcolds & Dometic refrigerators and monies spent for travel and now a second recall because Norcold found out their first recall didn't work," wonder how they found that out because of a fire."
I plan on getting the Amish cooling unit it will be cheaper than getting second recall and placing fire extinguishers just in case the second recall does not work also.
Recalls are not required with the cooling unit because of the way its build and also has better cooling system than the Norcold coils have.

So I just stumbled across this picture of an 03 Revolution that by the looks of it to me the fire was caused by the refrigerator. It looks like the first thing I am going to do before any trips or use of the refer is to install a fire extinguisher and check to see if any recalls have been done to it. Is there any way for me to tell if the previous owners have had any recalls done?
