Nova Awning problem - Center Cord Broke?

I had mistakenly posted this under the General RV Discussion Thread, but I wasn't getting any feedback there.

It's a very sad day when you look at your beautiful Nova awnings and there's this white cord hanging down the side of your MH.

The cord that runs thru the center tube on my Girard Awning has broken. Fortunately the Nova Owners Manual gives blow by blow instructions with pictures.

Have any of you had to do this yet???

If I'm the first, ugh, I will gladly post pictures of my new project. However, any experienced suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks

Is this the cord to pull your awning down manually?
You need to tie a loop or on ladder pull awning down so you can feed a new pull cord through the awning roller.
Pull strap.

The Girard Nova awning uses a 1 inch center bar/tube that's attached to each arm(3) at the "joint." This tube is used as a Rub Surface as the awning deploys and bends down.

Inside of this tube is a cord that is attached to each of the 3 guides. I believe the cord is used to keep this tube from migrating left or right.

Here's a picture of the "good" awning.

Now here's a picture of the bad Girard Nova awning. The cord you see hanging down comes from the center of the 1 inch tube. The Owners Manual gives pretty good point by point instructions on how to replace this cord. I was hoping someone on this forum has already done this and could possibly expand on the instructions.

Here's a picture of the broken awning:

Ok, let's add insult to injury.

Within the last 6 months, I had all three Arms replaced on my front Nova Awning (under Nova's parts warranty) and even though I was out of the one year Newmar warranty, Newmar paid for the Labor.
:-)) Thank you Jeff Johnson, Newmar Customer Service!!!!

However, as mention in this post, the center cord has broken which Girard has agreed to replace this under warranty. As a note Girard has a 3 year Parts Warranty on the Nova Awning.

I recently discovered that the Front Nova Awning was hitting the side of the coach as it retracted. So I called Newmar CS and Independence RV in Orlando. I was shocked when they suggested that the only repair for this issue is to replace the 6 month old Awning Arms again? Ouch!!!

I have an appointment at Independence in about 2 weeks. It will be very interesting to see how this all shakes out.

I do want to say that I LOVE the Nova Awnings AND Girard has been quick to remedy problems. Hoping for a great outcome again.
