Objects in the rear view mirror

Driving in the rain in I71 between Cleveland and Columbus, OH on Friday early evening. Glanced over at the rear view camera and saw this. After skipping a few heart beats, I very slowly pulled over to the edge, working the toad brakes to make sure it stayed behind me.

Ended up being water on the camera lens and everything was fine, but that's not easily seen while driving 65 MPH in Friday afternoon traffic on the interstate.

Picked up a chip in the windshield a few miles before that , just to add to the excitement. Glass Doctor in Ashland was able to plug the chip on Saturday morning to keep from cracking (I hope!)

Wow...that is a scary sight. Good thing you took a picture of it, no one would have believed your story!

Took the picture after getting off the road. Too nervous to do anything but slowly work the brakes and stop when I first saw it. Gad it kept showing it long enough to get the picture.

Sure looks like an arm came loose in the photo. Quite the illusion.

If an arm had come loose the toad would not be straight behind the MH. I can see why you would skip a few heartbeats.

Wide angle camera lens distortion is root cause.

Interesting pic. Would using rain-x on the rear camera have kept the distortion to a minimum?
