I was wondering what brand of oil and filters others are using. I have a ISL 400 Cummins and a Onan 7500 W diesel generator. Rotella or Mobile Delvac.

I would recommend Fleetguard (Cummins Filtration) filters and either Chevron Delo 400, Shell Rotella or Mobil Delvac - all are good dino diesel oils.

Hi jayhawk1,
I agree with using Fleetguard filters for the engine. Consider using Onan Filters for the generator. The oil I used in both is Penzoil 15W-40 for diesel engines. Other brand name oils are okay to use. I use Penzoil because I have been using it since 1965. If it ain't broke I do not fix it.

Onan is a subsidiary of Cummins. The Onan filter is a Fleetguard filter with a coat of paint.

I like Fleetguard and Onan (https://www.cumminsonanstore.com/) fiters. Rotella for oil.

Fleetgaurd and Onan for filters. Years ago when running my excavating business I oil tested and analized all of my Cat heavy equipment every other oil change. I tried Chevron Delo 400, Shell Rotella, and Mobil Delvac. After about 3 years the analysis showed the Shell to be superior at preventing engine wear. Now this was in the early 90's when I tested and the other two may have improved since then. I figure if Shell held up the best in machines run at wide open throttle in the dusty conditions we operated in, then that's good enough for my MH.

The early 90s is ancient history. We're up to API spec CJ on diesel engine oils. A modern CJ oil bears no resemblance to an early 90s diesel engine oil.
