We're about to leave on a trip and want to cool down the fridge before putting food in but don't have AC and can't run the genny unattended in our storage lot.
Is it OK to turn the fridge on LP and let it run that way overnight. . . or does the coach have to be moving to get the refrigerator juices circulating for the cooling to work? (You can tell I don't really understand how it works...)
Thanks. We just want to make sure the beer stays cold!

Shouldn't be a problem. I do it all the time for the same reasons.

As long as the batteries are OK, the frig will run on the gas. Frig needs 12VDC to power the controls.

The answer is YES. The fridge doesn't care where it is, whether it is moving or not. The manufacturer's manual, which you can get online if you need one (and I think maybe you do ) will tell you that pre-cooling the fridge AND the food you are going to put in, is always a good idea, as the fridge has less work to do starting out. Good luck

Only caution, is to make sure the RV is reasonably level - otherwise, no problem... Actually some refers, like the Norcold in our old Winnie specify LP to first cool the refer - the electric is more a maintenance cooling than for pulling a warm refer down to operating temp...

Not a problem ....... We run ours on LP while boondocking for weeks at a time.
