Rick,

There is on most of them. Recently when I went in for service at Spartan, they changed the oil and the oil filter, but they stated they wanted an Onan service center to change the fuel filter as there has been some problem with leaking fuel after a change. It is something I will have to address later, but so far no bad fuel contamination yet.

Most Gen fuel lines are filtered just before entering the Gen.

Rick,

Your fuel filter is accessible from underneath the generator. Slide under the generator and you can remove the fuel line with two open end wrenches. (I don't remember the sizes.) Fuel will run down your arms so have a large rag ready. Remove the mounting nut and the filter comes off. When you reconnect the fuel line use two wrenches and tighten sunggly, but don't over tighten. Start the generator and check for leaks.

You will induce some air in the fuel system so hold down the Stop button about 15 seconds to purge the air before starting.

While you are under the generator replace the air filter if it needs it. The instructions for all this should be in your owners manual.

We had three shutdowns of our genset, 05 DSDP, and the codes just indicated something like "check engine", don't remember exactly, but we had the fuel filter changed and have had no problems since.

Onan recommended change interval on the fuel filter on my 7500 QD is 500 hr or 3 yr. First time I tried to change mine I could not get the connections loose and had to pay a dealer to get it off.

With my mechanical abilities, I usually find that it's cheaper to pay someone with the right tools and experience to do it right the first time. It cost more when they have to straighten out my mess.

Thanks Guys!! Why I ask when the Coach was in for some warranty issues I asked to have the Gen serviced. When I picked it up there was only Oil Filter on invoice. So I inquired about Fuel filter and service guy said he was not sure if it had one and I did not ask to have it changed, I just thought a fuel filter 'would' be included in service.

Now that is one way to really inspire service tech confidence! And precisely why I will DIY until I am DOA!
