Very surprised that Newmar did it this way, it's not like them to cut corners.

No problem. I learn something new on this forum almost every day. Without the contributions and collective knowledge that is on this forum, it would be much harder to keep these complicated machines running smoothly.

I Actually lost a Roof Rail while In Motion.....

I posted my own personal incident on this, this past year.
I refer to it as "roof rail".....on my 16 DS 4369.

Driving down the interstate in wet weather with some wind 10-12mph watched from my side view mirror as it sailed in the air, all 18feet of it luckily missing a tractor trailer and a car and finally landed in the grass median.

I was shocked when I stopped to find the screws still in all the supports.

Long story short..... Newmar covered the ultimate repair (even out of warranty) recognizing it was a safety hazard big time.
In my original post I mentioned that this should be at least an annual maintenance check item.

I had the repair and new rail installed by a local body shop and then asked them to add 3M 5200 to the install so this bugger would never come off again. I would recommend this if anyone has to secure or re-attach this.

This past year I have also gotten on my ladder and checked all the brackets to the side wall that hold an awning or a slide topper. I have found those screws to be coming out (on several ocasssions) and in a few cases after screwing in ...breaking off. I have now re-inserted all of them adding locktite to the brackets. Again, this should probably be an bi-annual maintenance check.
