Operations Of Your Full Wall Slide

We have a MADP new thread with problems which you can read here.

Since 2013 to 2017 we have had FWS's and many owners have them without the problems described in the MADP thread.

The FWS operation procedures have been discussed many times and I wrote a thread to help us get it all together.

Yes we had a couple of mishaps when they first came out but that had to do with the reveal gap.

Some slides needed the motors readjusted to operate together.

I know many of you are enjoying the FWS with out problems by being responsible to the operations required in owning a FWS, you can discuss on this thread if any new information you may have been instructed by Newmar.

Hydraulic full wall slide 2017 model year Dutch Star

Arrival:
Pull in to site, check reveal on FWS. If OK, engine off, remain aired up, plug in, key to OFF position, run FWS out

Departure:
Start engine, air up?
Turn engine off, run FWS in before unplugging power?
Turn engine back on to drive away?

(Aren't a lot of on/off cycles bad for our DPs?)

Thx -

This what is in the manual for Canyon Stars:

1. Verify the coach is either plugged into shore power or is under generator power.
2. The windows on the end of the slide out room must be closed before moving the room in either
direction.
3. Before extending or retracting the room, look for and remove any obstructions.
4. Move the driver’s chair forward before moving the slide out room in either direction.
5. Disengage the lock arms by pulling down on the center of the arm using the lock arm release tool, as required.
6. Activate the slide out switch in the desired direction to either extend or retract the room. Please note that you must hold the slide out switch for the duration of movement of the room. If the switch is released during room extension or retraction, the room will stop moving. When the room has reached full extension or retraction, the slide out will automatically stop.
7. If retracting the room, be sure to engage the lock arms for the slide out room as soon as it has fully retracted.

Vanslam, thanks for the Canyon Star info. Our slide & rig are totally different, so there are no locks, windows don't interfere, etc. I'm really most curious about whether there is danger or impact regarding how the FWS is operated in conjunction with leveling as the rig is being prepped for departure. Can't seem to get the exact, Newmar/HWH process nailed down for the 2017 DSDP 4018 FWS. Steps we were told during PDI don't exactly match steps printed in HWH manual. Makes my OCD itch :-)

Paul your in the good position to change anything Newmar has added to their FWS operation this link in first post has what most owners have been doing but as you see with the posts in this thread people have done things differently.

Do not want to put you on the spot but some people are still confused.

Different models on different chassis's, FORD, FREIGHTLINER, SPARTAN, may need different operation of FWS but Newmar has not change this PIB since they have produced the FWS.

So if you get something different during your PDI would appreciate what maybe different now.

It's CC (the DW) who asks the dumb questions online (and IRL), not Paul. He has his own IRV2 ID and has been on here forever, but he doesn't post much. I'm the chatter bug.

We already had PDI but it seems unclear still. That was dealer PDI, not factory. I volunteer to open the big squirmy can of worms in Tampa, when we have Newmar techs to pin down. (LOL bet they all call in sick haha)
