Ordering a New MH?

We're 100% on the Bay Star 3113. We're pretty much settled on ordering (unless that floor plan goes away in 2018 and then...). We're pretty much set on using Tom Lindstrom in California. I mean, why attempt to find a better dealer when we've got a great one, by all accounts, relatively nearby and near where we plan to travel the most?

So, this is how I'm thinking we'll go about it. Am I missing anything major? Any advice? Thanks in advance.

We plan to go to Tom's dealership in a few weeks while were down in the area. Hopefully, he'll have the 3113 he has now so we can look at it. We want to make our intentions known and discuss the process. We're also going to visit our credit union to talk financing and get pre-approved (not an issue with 800+ credit and no debt but...)

Next, we plan to visit the factory...probably in May. We'll call Michelle Howard to set up an appointment and then book flights and rooms. We'll discuss our desires, get a build sheet, etc.

We'll get that to Tom, work out price, financing if necessary, and order the unit. Then wait while keeping on top of the build and taking care of other details like domicile, insurance, etc. We thought that 3-4 months is the usual wait time (though the salesman we talked to last week at another dealership said 4-6 months). We'll place the order in July, get it in October/November...hopefully.

Once we have the coach, we'll do a short shake down trip, return it for repairs if needed and then take it home and put it in storage until January when we plan to leave (could leave in December but the Holidays...).

Thanks in advance.

Have you looked into factory pickup? You get about a week of personal attention to address any issues or questions. We chose not to which now I regret even for our lower end Sport. There were enough issues that could have been fixed and saved a ton of aggravation if they had been fixed at the factory. Getting warranty work done at the dealer has proven to be a real PITA.

We bought and picked up our Canyon Star from Tom Lindstrom. He will truly take care of you and make sure that you are taken care of both before and after the sale. Talk to Tom when you are there considering all aspects ie ordering, financing ect. He is quite the expert in how to order the MH's and will help you when it comes to what you need and what you want to order during the build rather than wait until after the fact and then find out you really wanted the option, but now much more costly to put in. He is a really honest and ethical Man and will be honest with you.

As far as the pick up, personally I think Tom's crew does a PDI second to none and he will insure everything is in the condition it should be as well as functioning as it should. We have not experienced a lot of issues others have had as Tom's crew makes sure it is right before you even see the MH. For example all our TV's/Stereo/Surround System/Satellite System ect, was gone thru and made sure it was connected correctly and worked as should. They will show you how everything operates, then button up the MH and have you set it up with them watching/helping you if there were things that you didn't understand. Three years into ownership and the only things we have needed were some minor adjustments, one replacement part, and the micro wave recall, all which were done at Tom's while we waited for the MH.

Good Luck and have fun.

And stories like this is why we probably won't pick up at the factory. I've read nothing but good about the dealership and unless something changes I can't see searching for someone else.

We plan to speak with Tom when we're there in a couple of weeks. We'll even call ahead and schedule a time if we can. Unfortunately, our schedule is somewhat out of our control. We're going down to Twentynine Palms to greet our son when we returns from deployment (not to a war zone thankfully). The Marines control that and seem to enjoy changing times and dates

I'm actually looking forward to visiting a dealership
