EWLEE, have to agree about the "get er done" attitude on the techs part. We did FPU and the crew was very much in the get er done mode. Great folks at the factory. Make sure you schedule a return in 12 month to get the normal glitches taken care of. We have several issues that were not present at FPU that we are returning to the factory to fix. Just the way things work. Seems even if you leave the factory with a "perfect coach" the road always shakes out some problems.

IMHO if you have a (more than minor) issue in the first year, take it to the factory. You will be glad you did.

Does that model have a rear radiator? Where the heck is the "hood" on the rear of that coach? The rear end looks very sophisticated.

Showed my wife your photos. Says she would have been all over that fireplace/cabinet option, had we thought of it. Looks great.

The coach is beautiful! Congratulations! The fireplace wall is amazing!

I have to ask, though. Shouldn't the flaws in the paint, and the scratches on the cabinets, have been found and repaired in the extra weeks they spent preparing the coach for factory pick up, instead of taking time away from your time with the tech during factory pick up?

Good question from PandS about the paint. Cindy do you have the name of the other suggested hotel in Syracuse?

PandS-I had the exact same question! I am interested in exactly what the techs are doing in that 4 weeks.

I also wonder if the coach owner gets a list of the items that were repaired before the FPU so that they can keep an eye out for any second failures.

ewlee - you folks must just be beaming. Very happy and excited for you both.

As for that fire place and cabinet . . . we bought our Essex used and it has that cabinet and fireplace (or something similar) as well. I was VERY skeptical about it too. While we LOVE the cabinet and way it is built in we were coming from a 5th wheel and they put very cheesey fireplaces in those campers. So prior to seeing our coach we were trying to figure out what we'd put in its place. We couldn't have been more wrong. The fire place and pretty realistic looking flames and coals. On top of that the heat it puts out is amazing. If there is a slight chill in the coach and you turn that on it will put out some very nice heat in short order. We wouldn't even consider changing it now and would recommend them to someone else.

Short day 3 of FPU. It was a typical 0600 start. We had a few more things repaired/installed prior to the coach heading off for paint repair @ 0900. Will get the coach back tomorrow mid-morning. To put things into perspective, I spent 40 years working for NASA, 10 years of the time in QA, so I am extremely picky, especially with paint and operational procedures.

The places we noted on the coach were several small nicks, one small scratch, two "fish eyes" and over spray on the back from another coach's clear coat. No excuses from Newmar, just we will fix that before you leave. After dealing with the aircraft painters, and the Tiffin paint shop , I was well versed in where to look. This is our third coach so I revert back to issues we had on our other coaches, no problem or attitudes from Newmar, they have been awesome. We could have waited to have paint done, but we chose to have it done now. Will move into the coach tomorrow night and will have a 3-day weekend to check things and to get familiar with systems. We could have moved in earlier, but decided to maximize our work time instead. BTW, all this time is not spent repairing things, rather adding things like shelving, additional clothes rack, installing some switches, and just operating systems.

Somebody asked about the hotel in Syracuse, it is Oakwood resort. We found out that is where Newmar puts people up when they are displaced from their coaches and must be accommodated. It is about 25 minutes away. The Inn @ Amish Acres is close which has been good for coming back to check on the puppy. Puppies are permitted in the service lounge, not on the service floor. We drove up there while cooling our heels and it looked very nice.

Until tomorrow, safe travels to all.

Ooops . . . one last thing about the fireplace . . . we found that the front glass in ours (yes it really is glass) rattled when we went down the road. So we use a small piece of paper folded up when in transport to quiet the glass. Just an FYI > > >

As Wayne mentioned, Oakwood Resort. I checked prices, about $10 more per day, but looked sooo much nicer I'd feel it would be well worth it! On a nice lake as well.
