Took it in to fill the tank for the first time, it said it was a quarter full. I put in 43 gallons. so I am guessing it holds 60? I have looked thru all the manuals, and cannot find how much fuel capacity is, anyone know? Also how much pink antifreeze does it take to do the lines? It sipped up 3 gallons and never made it to a faucet.

Congrats oldcouple many safe and happy miles for you.
This LINK will give you all your tank capacities if you do not have them.
My fuel gage goes down slow between full and 1/2 for 300 miles but watch the gage fall after that.
Anti will run you about 3 gal maybe a 4th to make sure you fill traps and make sure you have anti around your knife blades in sewer lines.
If you have washer drier prep should have some in them pipes also.

The fuel gauge is not very accurate. You should have a 100 gallon fuel tank and the Low Fuel light should come on when you have about 30 gallons left in the tank.

If you did not bypass the water heater you probably sucked all the antifreeze in the water heater. Depending on how the valves were set you may have sucked the antifreeze in the fresh water tank. It should take only a gallon or a little more to fill the water lines to the sinks. Then you need more to pour in the toilet and the traps in the sinks, shower and washer drain.

Congrats!!

I agree, you probably didn't bypass the water heater. I thought I did last year, but didn't do the valves correctly.

Remove the plug on the water heater and see if you have pink in there. If so, use a hose and rinse, rinse, rinse the water heater with a hose on low pressure.

Thanks, thats what I thought too, except the drain plug is out in the water heater, and the line to the ice maker is disconnected. I installed the bypass connection where the water filter is under the sink. The directions say which valve to open and close and I did so, so maybe the prior owner switched something around. I will start over, add water and drain to see what " comes out in the wash".

Heres a LINK for bypass info for WH. There should be a diagram near WH as to how three valves should be turned.
More information in Quick Tips for winterizing.

Thank you for the info, I am not sure where the pink stuff went. The water heater plug is out and nothing is draining, I can see the lines inside and there is nothing in them, so back to square one.

Any chance it could be filling your fresh water tank?

Found the pink stuff, the prior owner had revesed the shutoff when he installed a new pump, it was up inside the coldwater drain, which is not the same as the tank drain. The adventure continues....

How much pink stuff was missing and where did it wind up with diverted drain.
Hope you do not find many more fix's by previous owner.
