Our new Bay Star 3113

A big THANK YOU! to Mr. Newmar (Tom Lindstrom) and his knowledgeable and gracious crew. After making a couple of visits to his dealership in Moorpark, CA. we finally decided on the 3113. Love the floorplan, even when the slides are in there is plenty of walking room.

Picked it up 10 days ago, drove up to Pismo for a couple of nights then home to SJ. Scotty did the PDI while Mike was busy installing a surge protector. And I can't leave out "Coach", he brought the lunch .

Looking forward to hitting the road, reading and writing many posts regarding Newmar, dreaming of a DS and meeting some of you on the road.

Good luck and many happy miles in your new Bay Star. We are also customers of Tom Lindstrom. My wife's brother recently purchased a previously owned Itasca Class A from Tom upon our reocommendation and he couldn't be happier. We are happy campers, all around!

Thanks Desertman,

We're headin' over the hill, from SJ, next week to your neck of the woods to spend a few days at Costanoa. First time for us.

Take care

For those of you who bought 2017 Bay Stars, what kind of discount off MSRP were you able to get? I am working on a deal on a new 2017 3113 and the best I can get right now is 22.5% off MSRP. Thanks!

I got much better than that - just ordered a 2017 Canyon Star. What dealer are you getting quoted by?

Sky River RV in Pismo Beach, CA. Where are you located? Being that you ordered yours, I'm sure that is part of the reason you got a better discount. From everything I read, ordering one is better for a larger discount off MSRP.

I would think you could do 3%-5% better. The problem is supply and demand. Not many of this model floor plan have been around. I was at Sky River in September and I think they had this unit on the lot.

Good luck,
Lov'n our 3113

Yea, I am sure it was. They told me they have had it for a little over 100 days so they want to move it. But you are right, there just aren't many around. Tom has one but we don't like the color scheme so we either wait, order one or take the 3-5% hit and get the one we like now.

I am located in Central Florida and purchased the coach from Independence RV. I got an additional 4%, which translates to $7,000 more for me.

You are probably right on buying existing coaches rather than ordering. I can get the same discount on what they have on the lot - however, they are 2016 models. When I asked about them giving a larger discount for "leftover" 2016's they told me that they will get the same for them and that Newmar gas coaches are in demand as Newmar basically only builds retail orders and a lesser amount of "stock". Reason is these coaches provide much smaller profits for Newmar than the Dutch Star DP's and larger. The dealer also told me that they don't even advertise their Ventana line as they are usually sold with 10 days of arrival. Newmar doesn't build near as many of them for the same reason profit margin.

When times are good - as the are at the moment - it is harder to get good pricing. I am nervous about interest rates going up - as that can affect the "real" cost a lot. Currently interest rates are around 4% - but could be moving up fairly quickly with the new fed.

Good luck with finding the right coach at the right price.
