Although I follow the Newmar threads daily, all problems and in turn the need to post about them ended several years ago when I learned on these very pages to:
* pull handful of fuses to avoid mileage build-up on the odometer
* drop the drive line to save the transmission
* tie a towel on the steering wheel to insure that the tires tracked straight

Well, I'm not sure. Maybe it just doesn't require a switch. We do not have a power button on the distribution box. I'm sure I'll figure it out. It'll give me something ELSE to do. LOL

I wondered what had happened to the thread. I did monitor this for quite a while, but never saw many other 5th wheel posts, so I lost interest.
I guess Newmar 5th wheels are just too darned reliable.......
However, to add to the thread, I just retired this month, and will soon be joining the exodus south to Florida for the winter.
Within the next few months, I intend to seriously look at upgrading my American Star to a 2-3 year old Cypress 5th wheel.
Does anyone have any good leads on Dealers in Florida that specialize in Newmar?

Thanks for the reply. I'm sorry, when I said "Dealers", I really meant Dealers other than normal Newmar Dealers.
I did go to the Newmar website to get the list for Florida, but going to the websites for those Dealers shows that most don't have much in the way of stock.
I'm a hands on type of person, and like to actually see and touch what I'm buying. I am not much into buying from a brochure, or chosing from floor plans.
I was hoping some of you out there knew of some other good dealers who might have some used Cypress models.

There's a Newmar dealer (of sorts) just a couple miles down the road from me in PA that has a used 2006 Cyprus in their inventory: Shady Maple RV Sales & Service - Lancaster County, PA
I know that's not in Florida, but just thought I'd offer that up.
The reason I say their a Newmar dealer of sorts is that the parents operate a HUGH grocery store and smorsgaboard, etc., and one of the sons sells RV's from a corner of their lot.
With the slowness of sales, I'd think you could get a really good deal on a used RV now.

Thanks, I just looked up where Shady Maple RV are located. Unfortunately they are at the far side of PA to where I am, I'm nearly 400 miles from there in NE Ohio. I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but it is a little too late to get there now before I leave for Florida.
Now if I'd got your information a little earlier in the year, I would have invested the time and effort to go look, but now I'm too stuck for time to do that.
Thanks a lot for your reply though.
I hope there are others like that down in Florida.

Thanks for the info. I will make a run down to the Ft Myers location.
I'm interested in the Cypress models, but the Kountry Aire is a little too much. I ask you, a grandfather clock in the entrance way?
What's next, a baby grand next to the fireplace?

Toterman (David) & K-Star (John) are still around, aren't they?

Lori, I believe they are, David had a truck tractor pulling his Mountain Aire pretty impressive setup. Had a small car setup on deck behind cab also.
The big truck rigs had forums set up for them on irv2 but not much action on those forums also.
The 5th wheels members are a quiet group not many problems.

I think that's a testament for the quality of the 5-r's Newmar builds.
(slightly ): I was really impressed with David's - he was parked beside us at the 06 Rally in TN & I got a tour of his Mtn Air (I think he had the Harley with it then). In the back of my mind, I've got this little seed planted that when we decide to stay in one place more than travel around the country, we'll go back to a 5-r & Newmar is on my short list of contenders.
