Here is a very good educational video on the proper use of Loctite thread locking products. I was surprised how much I didn't know. It is a bit long, but it is worth it to see the whole thing. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I recently saw a post on the irv2 forum about the common lock washer. In a video, a shaker table was used to demonstrate just how useless lock washers are. In about 30 seconds on the nuts were loose. With correct torquing on flat washers the nuts came loose after a minute pules. The crazy thing is that this bad news about the so relied upon lock washers has been known since the early sixties. So much for engineers keeping up to date on failed practices.
I suggest using a bit of Loctite Blue 242: https://www.amazon.com/Loctite-Blue-...ock+tight+blue

Dick,
They are AN bolts...you can use this selector to choose the ones you want. Aircraft Spruce has them...you can find the stocked at local airports supply shops...and EAA Fly-ins always have numerous vendors.

Many thanks for this thread. I have been hearing a slight pop right as the slide began retracting ever since I bought my coach a year ago. I checked the bolts, locktite and tightened them and no more pop. Saved my bacon.

Thankful for all the good information on this forum
Getting ready to head out for a couple weeks. Thank you for the great information on the slide motor mount bolts. All of my motors needed attention . . . no way I would have known to look at this issue if not for all of you sharing.
More importantly is what to do to fix the problem. I would have been out jacking up the read end, removing the tires to figure out how to get to the motor for the bedroom slide!!!!

Did I miss something or are you referring to the motor under the bed? I still have not figured out how to get the the motor for the dresser slide.

Newmar must be reading this thread. Was just their for adjustment on my slides and they volunteered to remove all my motor bolts and retighten with lock tight. That's after i said I check my bolts spring and fall they still wanted to do the lock tight. Said still good to check like I have been doing. This is first time they have offered to do this and I have had them check my slides at least 3 times before.

See post #35 in this thread for what I had to do. Our coaches are different, but I believe the idea is the same. Maybe a current Newmar owner will chime in.

After reading all this, checked mine today..........
Front PS and DS slides I was able to get about 1 full turn on about half of them the rest were tight. Rear DS slide (under bed) all tight. PS rear will require access behind wheels. Will do soon when I have time to raise up fully on hyd jacks.

I just checked the bolts on my 2016 CS 3710, living room slide. All 4 needed less than a 1/4 turn. Now for the bedroom slide. I can see no slide mechanicals in the storage bays on that side, so I am guessing that the slide mechanism/motor is under the bed. How do you access it, remove the mattress??

Own A Newmar With Electric Slide Outs... Read THIS!
Lift the end of the mattress platform up. It's on hinges and gas struts hold it open. Then lift out the plywood covers that hide the slide motor and rail. Then you can access the motor.
