New to having paint on a coach-just counted over 30 small paint chips in first 5k miles(mostly on the drivers side due to gravel between the two lanes on the four lanes here in Mexico). Thank goodness for the paint kit supplied by Newmar.

Question is why don't the manufacturers use harder paints? On boats we use Awlgrip or Emron which I believe are a lot harder than BASF(could be wrong).

Hi! There is no question Emron is much stronger. We had a 2006 DSDP which was painted with a different paint then our current coach (BASF) I don't know if it is bad luck but we have a lot more paint chips on our new coach, then we had on last years coach. Basicly driving in the same part of the country. Maybe the current paint is not as good? Paul
