Painting/Refinishing entry door latch/plate

Our main entry latch/handle and the plate around it have faded considerably. It really doesn't look very good. Has anyone removed these and repainted them? Or just replaced them? I can't tell how hard it would be to disassemble the lock mechanism to remove them so I could repaint. Any suggestions?

You could loosen the screws enough to slip some news paper around lock to cover the door area then spray paint it with RUST-OLEUM PAINT I used a flat but shiny you could use also.
Did the same thing for my wiper blade arms also.

There's no screws on the outside. Do the screws on the inside loosen the outside? Or do I need to take the interior plate off totally to get to that?

Screw heads are inside only back off so you can get paper under the outside plate.
You may need a plastic spatch to free up paint around outside plate.

Yeah, looks a lot like 009-220. I might confirm that with Newmar. Probably worth getting a new one rather than mess around with paint that might not adhere properly.

Hmm. Unclear, but it looks faded to me. I'll post a pic tomorrow.

If you do repainting flat black trim, DupliColor produces a paint that matches the smooth but flat paint used by many OEM'S

I just did mine. It was faded and the paint was worn down to metal in the very center of the handle. Sanded it with 320 grit, taped around the entire mechanism, masked the door with newspaper, and sprayed it with Rustoleum Professional satin black. Looks pretty good now.
