Passenger Seat
Hello we have a 2005 newmar mountain aire. The passenger seat foot rest does not rise. When my husband tries to put a new fuse it blows out. A short...any idea
Where? Thanks!

Glad to have you here in the forum with us.
The logical place to look is a wire touching the frame on the seat itself. Turning the seats around can often cause the wiring to break or fray and short out.
Happy Trails!!!

First off
In addition to and along the lines of Tonydi comment, find the motorized foot rest plug that should be between the seat and the floor, and disconnect it. Then try a fuse to see if it blows. (There could be other plugs under there especially if you have heated seats, so make sure you pick the correct one.)
If the fuse still blows then the problem is between the plug and the fuse. If it doesn't blow then the problem is between the plug and the foot rest.

Forgot to ask, does your seat have motorized adjustments such as up down, front and back etc.? If so do they work without blowing the fuse?
There have been reports of chaffing wires right where the wire goes through the floor and into the wire chaseway. So you may want to gently pull the wires out a bit and check for a short there. Or if your seat wire just goes under the carpet toward the wall, check for a staple going through a wire.
Also, there may be a plug right at the motor itself, and if you do have one you could further narrow down the search by isolating the motor from the circuit and testing.

Thank You to all that responded. The problem is fixed. For some reason those wires under the seat were being pinched. My husband cleared them and now everything is good. This is a great site for a man that won't let anyone work on his coach! ✌

I think this applies to most of us.
I'm glad he got the seat working. Doesn't that means he deserves a little TLC?
