Pentair water filter severely restricting flow?
I replaced the stock filter with a Pentek CFB-PB10 Lead & Cyst Carbon Filter
https://www.waterfiltersfast.com/Pen...er_p_6770.html
and I went to fill my holding tank today and holy cow - it took almost 20 minutes to fill 5 gallons. When I removed the filter, it filled as normal. I noticed it says it needs to be flushed a bit before using and I didn't do that, but has anyone else seen this kind of restricted flow with this filter? I came highly recommended so i was really surprised at what happened. Maybe there is something else I did wrong?

is the hole in the middle of the new filter the same dia size as the original? if it is smaller dia. it will restrict the flow.

Something is not right in your system. That filter has a flow rating of "1-2 GPM." That's a little less than the OEM Flow-Pur MAXVOC-975RV FILTER that's rated at "2.5 GPM," but not enough to cause the flow restriction you describe.
Have you checked the screen on the imput end of the water hose? You may have gotten some crud trapped there. That will definitely cause flow issues. "Murphy" shows up in a lot of interesting places...and, at interesting times!

I use this same filter and our fill rate is definitely not that slow. Haven’t timed officially but maybe next time out.

That filter is still only a 5 micron just like $7 or $8 WH filters, not sure why it would reduce flow unless like someone else mentioned the center hole is different.

That filter is 0.5 micron! No wonder you aren't getting any water through it. I use 5 micron filters.

If the only filter you have is 0.5 microns with no prefilter it likely I’ll get plug very quickly.
Did this flow start right away at 60 psi pressure?

I use the same 0.5 micron filter that came with our coach. It normally last 4-6 months. Once it got plugged up within a day because of rusty water in a state park. It was easy to see the problem as it was brown when I opened it up.

You will never be happy filling your tank with a 0.5 micron filter unless you are very very very patient. Even when new the flow restriction is limiting and will only get more limited based on the quality of water coming in. Recommend using a larger micron filter. Even the 2 micron ones will clog up very fast so we have settled on the 10 micron ones. The inline blue Camco ones work well for pre filtering ahead of our external water softener and helps with the taste of South Texas and Yuma hard water.

Always use a sediment filter first then carbon, been doing that for years without issues could be a bad filter?

Like others noted
Use a 5 or larger first, then the .5 micron if you really want to go that small

Ya gotta read the fine print I found after a debacle in the S&B. Our incoming water is usually 48-50 psig. At that pressure, you will have about a 1 gallon per minute flow - maybe. If you have a dual systen as we do in the S&B, well let's say that pouring cold oil at -20 is faster with that filter. You need to find a filter with a 5gpm flow or move up to a 20 inch housing (and suffer the filter media cost)

I never really looked that close at the micron numbers before.....bought them at HD and put spares in the closet. Time to start looking.

I have been using 0.5 micron filters for some time without a problem. In fact, I believe the OEM Flow-Pur filter is also 0.5 micron.
