Pick Up my New Bay Star Sport Wednesday. Now what.

Wednesday is the big day. Pick up the New Bay Star Sport 2702 from the dealer. They said they will show me everything and how it works in 3 hours than its mine. There is a RV park near by so I am going over there to stay for 2 or 3 days to try everything to make sure it works and doesn't blow up.

Trying to think of what to take with me. It is just me so when I leave with it. I will have to use the RV to go shopping. Parking is going to be fun.

2 big probllems. 1, its so tall. 2, its mine, yiks. Its not like a company truck.

Any way wish me luck and keep me in your thoughts....and all the other people on the road. You may want to avoid Fort Myers for a week. LOL

Congrats! Scary and exciting day. We're going to order in July. I look forward to the day I can make a post like yours. Have fun, be safe and don't tear the roof off

BTW, you don't have a toad? Maybe you should look at a small scooter or something if not. I mean you can take the MH shopping but...

Congrats on the new rig. I expect you will get use to it.

A couple of things I would suggest during the walk-through with the dealer:
  • Run all of the slides in and out 3 or more times and insure they are fully extending (top and bottom), and retracting (top & bottom). Listen for strange/bad noises in the process. Watch for the slides going out and coming in evenly.
  • Check that the foam rubber seals on the inside edges (inside the rig) are still intact all around the slides (mine had started dropping off).
  • After the slide tests, unplug the rig from shore-power for the rest of the walk-through. Note the battery voltage (assuming the BSS has this indicator). Turn on some of the inside lights. The last thing after you are finishing your walk-through (hopefully 3-4 hours later), check your battery voltage again. If it has dropped to 12.2 volts (or lower) you have used 50% on them already, and likely something is wrong with the string. Should not have dropped that much with a small load on them in that period of time.

Wish I would have done these before leaving the dealer with the rig.

Terry

Congrats of the new ride. Go through the PDI before you sign anything. It should take 3-4 hours. Yes this in addition to the walk-through. Take your time. We did ours the weekend before we bought. We found a bad AC/Heat Pump unit and 2 bad lights. They replaced it all in couple of days. Walk the roof as well. Its new but doesn't mean it was built perfect.

Once this is done you will have plenty of time for great adventures.

I have a 2702 also. Be sure you know where's each valve is for the water system. Physically touch each one and be sure you understand when to open or close each of them. The three valves for the hot water heater are hidden behind the coach heater duct. The fresh water drain is on the right side of the coach. The intake selector valve is in the sewer drain tank and there's two valves for the pump. None of them are marked.
In spite of that (and a couple of other quirky things) you have bought the best quality class A MH you can get under 28 feet in length. Enjoy it!

Congrats on your new Bay Star. Welcome to the Newmar family.

When you have the dealer showing you how things work., it's a good idea if you have a way to video what he is doing. Later on, when you can't remember how to do something, you will have a video reference to fall back on.

Happy Trails!!!

We took delivery of our 3013 at NorthTrail last Friday. We found that the orientation was very thorough. We did not video it--probably should have.

So far, so good! We have had 4 Phoenix Cruiser Class C's and this is our first A. Yes, it's tall and I found that the ride was much different. I think, because of the height and weight of the vehicle, unloaded, it kind of rocked when driving down I75 as tractor trailers passed.

We are leaving for Maine this Sunday, so we'll see how she handles.

Enjoy you new "home on wheels"

Today is the day.........Good luck!!!!!

One thing your post got my attention, "They said they will show me everything and how it works in 3 hours than its mine."

There is nothing worse than being shown/taught something by someone who knows the subject matter well and wants to rush through training.........

Take all the time you need to learn your new rigs system. Take copious notes, some people video the walk-thru.

If you do not learn as much as you can today, you'll be in some camp ground, in the dark, raining and cold, and ask each other, "What'd he say at the walk through?"

Just sayin'........

Newmar will give you s spiral bound info book that is the same whether you take delivery of a Bay Star Sport or a King Air - - good info in the book but very generic. You will also have what Newmar calls a "Brand Specialist" who is suppose to be available 24/7. We have called ours on a Saturday in December at about 9AM and he called back in 20 minutes to help with our problem, so help is there for you........but nothing like getting everything you can into your brain today.

Again, good luck, congratulations, welcome to the RV world, your life is about to change for the better!

Are you in the Ft Meyers area? We winter in LaBelle.........love it there and love the Ft Myers Brewing Company!! LOL

Also, please consider membership into FMCA, Family Motor Coach Association, here is some information: https://www.fmca.com Tellem' Indy Glenn set ya........

As soon as you are the owner of your new coach register for Newgle. It's customized to your serial number and it gives you access to directions for virtually every component.
For example, there are several different manufacturers of levelling systems. You probably have Equalizer. The manual for your particular model is 16 pages long. It's not in the book but Newgle has it in a couple of clicks.

Picked the MH up Friday and registered for Newgle. I had a question about the Winegard antenna (was it amplified and where was the booster). Nothing in Newgle. Called Newmar and was told that it was amplified by Customer Service. It is not!! And does not even have the Wingman accessory! I was very surprised since we have had 4 new MH in the last 5 years and all had an amplified antenna with the Wingman attachment.

So Newgle is good but can be very generic.

I went through the same thing on our antenna. We wasted 20 minutes searching for the booster switch. Then again, if that's the biggest problem we have with the RV we have it made.

I icked it up

THANKS to everyone who replied. Your information, support and humor was great.
Spent about 3 hours going over everything. The only thing we did not cover was the roof, LOL. Had a few issues which they took it right in and fixed it.
I was surprised that they did not include accessories like Sewer and water hose.
I drove it to Upriver RV Resort and the office was closed but the have a person who came out, took me around and showed me a few sites than escorted me to the site and made sure I was properly on the concert slab.
NOW the fun begins.
Thanks again.
