Plugs And Wires?

2002 K/S Workhorse 8.1
I have missing under load. Engine seems to have wide open air flow,but others have said the wires have been burning.Anyone have comments? Would original equipment be OK?

Get in there and wiggle each wire while slightly pulling back and if any of them pull apart you will have found your burnt wire.

Hi Ron,
This may be an assumption I do not need to post, but do Jon's recommendation with the engine off. The voltage going through the wires will wake you right up.

Replace the plug wires no matter how they look. If you want to ohm them out first you will find varying degrees of resistance between them.
At 8 years old you are overdue for new ones on a P-30.

I had a ford truck that had a miss under load. It would idle great and cruise great. I did a ohms test to the spark plug wires and found 1 questionable. I replaced wires and plugs and the miss went away. If the wires are 8 years old, replace them with a good quality wire that will take the heat. In fact a complete tune up plugs, wires, ( cap and rotor if the engine has them) would not hurt.

If you look at your doghouse thread you will find more info about your wires.Most Newmars have a wide open engine area for good airflow around plugs and wires.
Ford V-10's had some problems but not the 8.1.
You could have a fuel filter problem also on a 2002 coach.
